Short blog on how much our core beliefs about ourselves and others - and what is possible in love and life - makes all of the difference in what we experience:
"It’s time we told a different kind of story about the innate nature of humanity & its capacity or incapacity cooperate & love. In the past few months - among other things, I’ve been exploring how much our beliefs influence what we experience in the realm of love. If we are single & looking for a mate, our beliefs about ourselves & others will determine what kind of potential mates we attract. If we’re in a relationship, our beliefs will have lasting effects on our partner & what kind of experience we have with him/her.
One of the things I invariably hear from first time clients is a blanket statement about their gender of choice - that “they are inherently selfish & out for themselves” - and they’ll quote some psychologist or reference the classic, Lord of the Flies.
I do not believe this whatsoever. Given the right support, humans are basically motivated to do good and collaborate with others. Your love life will greatly improve if you fully embrace this!
And, I am was thrilled to discover an article from the Guardian that describes how the story of Lord of the Flies is completely false - and a true story has come forth re: a group of boys stranded on an island in which they helped one another in the spirit of camaraderie. One of the boys - now a grown man - tells about this story in this article. "Life has taught me a great deal, including the lesson that you should always look for what is good and positive in people.”💗
