Our first week has been filled with smiling faces, new friendships, exciting learning, and so many special moments! We are incredibly proud of our students and thankful for our amazing staff and families who helped make the start of the school year such a success.

We loved welcoming our Eagles back and seeing our classrooms and hallways come to life again. We can already tell it’s going to be a fantastic year!

Dear West Buncombe Families and Staff,

We wanted to make you aware of an unexpected fire alarm that occurred at school this morning.

The fire alarm system activated as it should, and the fire department responded promptly. Students and staff evacuated the building according to our safety procedures, and at no time were students or staff in danger.

We are very proud of how well our students and staff responded. Everyone followed our procedures calmly and safely, and we were able to resume our normal school day within approximately 20 minutes. A special shout-out goes to our new kindergarteners, who handled their first unexpected fire alarm like seasoned pros!

We know that an unexpected emergency response at school can be concerning, so we wanted to communicate with you about what occurred and reassure you that everyone was safe and our school day returned to normal.

Meet the Teacher – Friday, August 21

West Buncombe Families,

We apologize for any confusion regarding the date and time for Meet the Teacher. We know that some families arrived at school today, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Meet the Teacher will take place on Friday, August 21:

Kindergarten & 1st Grade: 8:00–9:00 AM
We will begin with a brief parent meeting before families visit classrooms.
2nd–4th Grade: 9:00–10:00 AM
We will also begin this session with a brief parent meeting.

We are excited to welcome everyone back to West Buncombe and appreciate your patience and understanding. We look forward to seeing you on Friday!
