Dear ACAP friends and family, While the school is closed, our hearts and connections are open. Shared with permission from the Whitlow family:
Hello friends and family. I’m here to ask for some help for my family. In April of ‘22 cancerous tumors were in Norine’s right breast. She has been through 2 surgeries, 16 weeks of chemo and is now starting 6 weeks of radiation. After this is possibly another surgery and years of hormone suppression drugs. But so far, we are thankful, she seems to be doing as well as you can when you’re in this kind of treatment.
Our family is resilient however, as we go to this next phase, I am reaching out to the community for some help.
Some folks may have been watching the CaringBridge website, we have now moved everything over to the meal train. The link is below, do you have to create an account, but any help that you can provide, would be graciously accepted. Meals are definitely a big deal, but we also need rides for Norine. She has to go to radiation every day Monday through Friday. And as the treatment goes on, she will become more and more fatigued, and may not be able to drive herself. Her radiation appointment is 11:30 M-F.

Meal Train Plus for Norine Whitlow
We would love to shower Norine and the Whitlow family with cleansing and nourishing foods. Norine can also benefit from rides to her medical appointments. Thank you for your healing energy and support!

Hey! A mask’s ability to prevent transmission has everything to do with fit. I was sitting w the critters at The Hop and noticed the new KN95s I bought them still had a large gap at the bridge of the nose. They are “kids size” but, Layla and Jack have little faces. I would recommend that the kids try on their masks prior to starting school and you can evaluate for air leaks. This is for real friends!! Kids are getting the delta variant left and right and they are sick. ICUs nationwide are filed with healthy kids with COVID. This variant is not like the original. They will get exposed to Covid at school and when they do, you want them to be protected by those masks. So pinch down the nose bridge and teach the kids what their masks should feel like if they have a good seal. Article with tips below.
Also, side note, get a vaccine and we can set our kids free!!

What To Say To Kids When The News Is Scary : Parenting: Difficult Conversations
Whether a school shooting or a deadly tornado, scary events in the news can leave parents struggling to know when — and how — they should talk with their kids about it. Rosemarie Truglio of Sesame Workshop and Tara Conley, a media studies professor at Montclair State University, give us tips.
