Asheville Waldorf School is seeking a combined 1st/2nd Grade Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year.

The ideal candidate has completed Waldorf Grades Teacher Training and has classroom teaching experience. Passionate educators who are newer to Waldorf education and eager to deepen their understanding of Waldorf pedagogy are also encouraged to apply.

We are seeking a teacher who is enthusiastic about child development, inspired by Anthroposophy, and excited to help shape and strengthen a thriving Waldorf school community.

Our Parent–Child classes are as much for caregivers as they are for children.

This weekly rhythm offers a chance to slow down, observe your child at play, and connect with other families navigating the early years. Rather than rushing milestones, we focus on nurturing healthy growth through warmth, imitation, and relationship. Join our Summer Session starting on 6/18!

Our 5th grade class recently participated in their Pentathlon — a beloved Waldorf tradition inspired by the games of Ancient Greece. 🏛️🌿

Students spent three days training and competing in events including running, jumping, discus, javelin, and wrestling, while also embodying qualities like courage, grace, perseverance, sportsmanship, and honor.

The Pentathlon is about so much more than athletic achievement. It is a celebration of this developmental stage and an opportunity for students to step forward with confidence, strength, and joy.

We are so proud of our 5th graders and grateful to everyone who helped make this special day possible. ✨

Our students have been exploring the beauty and challenge of working with pastels in Fine Arts, learning how to blend color, create depth, and bring their ideas to life through careful attention and artistic practice.

Art is woven deeply into Waldorf education—not only as a creative outlet, but as a way of developing focus, patience, confidence, and a relationship to beauty. 💛
