Due to the current economic climate and long-term recovery from Hurricane Helene, we’re experiencing ticket sales that are MUCH lower than expected. We’re doing our best to adjust and cut costs as much as possible without compromising the quality of the event; but at this point, we can’t continue without your help.

We’re all feeling the economic squeeze, but the skills and wisdom that we offer have never been more necessary to learn and share than they are now. Remember, no offer is too small – even $5. We humbly seek mutual aid from our vast network of creatives, so we can continue to empower people, enrich lives and build community for another 20 years. We need $25K just to pay for the venue and rentals for this year’s gathering, and an additional $50K to be at pre-Helene levels; if 1,000 folks donate $50, that will keep us going. The Annual Gathering is like summer camp for the whole family! Parents, take the break you deserve while our Youth Village instructors spark imagination in your little one(s) through nature crafts, songs, traditional earthskills, and games during the day. You get the space to tap into what calls you and they’ll meet new friends and build a connection with the land that can last a lifetime.

We offer 3 main opportunities for the community to engage:
1) Check out the camp store, “Made by Us,” where Firefly instructors and staff sell their handcrafted wares.
2) The Trade Blanket, Thursday evening, where folks spend time sitting in a formal, moderated, old-school style trading circle, swapping their handmade goods.
3) Saturday evening’s Bizarre Bazaar, a raucous and lively time, when everybody is invited to bring a blanket and barter their handcrafted wares.

Doug Elliott’s class was such a hit that we’re doing it again! Join us Saturday, June 13 for a wander through the magical landscape that Doug and his wife Yanna, have tended for 30+ years. Visit rare plants, meet some critters, hear some stories and sing some songs…all in the timeless setting of Doug’s personal paradise!

Basketry is truly one of the oldest human crafts, spanning continents and cultures, even predating pottery in many regions, with artifacts going back some 10,000 years.

Many plants around the world are revered by basket makers and the southeast is no different. Whether it’s Willow Pack Baskets with Tyler Lavenburg, Cattail Hats & Willow Spiral Hanging Baskets with Frea Wild, Bamboo + Kudzu = Kuboo baskets with Aaron McCarty, Tulip Poplar Baskets with Doug Elliott, or splitting White Oak with Big Witch…at the Annual Firefly Gathering, we offer many opportunities to sink into the soothing art of basket weaving.
