It's an honor to receive this recognition from Kindermusik International because the community of the greater Asheville area continues to recognize the value of our musical circle, music education, musical parenting, musical fun and the joy of singing and twirling with their little ones. I've been teaching Kindermusik for 30 years and I love it more every year. My cheeks hurt after class from smiling so much. Thank you everyone for supporting me! (Hey, Fall semester starts next week! Fall classes begin the week of August 25. West Asheville at the Asheville Conservatory of the Arts/Piano Lab and in South Asheville at Skyland United Methodist Church. Music is how babies decipher language. They are hard wired to pay attention to the melodies, rhythms, timbres, dynamics, phrases, repetitions.... Music is a natural environment for learning. Summer classes starting this week and there's still openings!! For those who are enrolled now and in the past tell me....I'm wondering what was your inspiration for signing up for a Kindermusik class. Many are looking for connection and quality time with your child. Some are looking for a fun social experience for your child and maybe for you too! Some already know that music is a powerful learning tool and want to take advantage of this opportunity for growing, moving and learning. Some of you value music education and maybe play an instrument yourself and know an early start is highly beneficial. If you'd take a quick moment and tell me why you have chosen to be in Kindermusik!There are quite a few openings in all the summer classes so if you have friends help me spread the word!! Music therapy was good for me too. My Imagine That classes are starting a theme of rain. The children had a lot of stories about our big storm. I'm hoping the adults continue singing our rain songs and drawing out the stories. In this photo you see us working with "Colors of the Rainbow" where we make friends with water again.

Hello dear dear Kindermusik Families,
As you may be guessing there will be no Kindermusik this coming week. I'm hoping you have enough internet to receive this email!
I am safe and my house and trees are all in fine condition. My own children and extended family are all good. So many miracles all around. I do now have electricity and internet but of course, like most, no water. I have a lot of survivor guilt, grief, exhaustion and my heart aches for the children who feel all that we are going through.
I've heard from most of you answering my text, sending me an email or even through the grapevine that some experienced tree damage grazing the house but not too bad. Some are very isolated and unable to even get into Asheville. A lot of you have evacuated. Some I still haven't heard from. If you know of someone who could not reach out please share with me if possible. If anyone has needs that I can help with or help make connections please reach out.
Schools are closed indefinitely. I am trying to imagine what we will be able to do to get our classes back on track and when that might be... water to flush and wash hands, evacuated classmates, isolated families....a few big hurdles to figure out. Stay tuned.
Music, visual art and imagination play are very healing arts. I encourage you to sing, play music, dance, get out markers and paints and put on the music. For the younger children who may grasp the gravity of what's going on draw pictures and tell stories about what they have been experiencing and encourage them to fill in details. I held my granddaughter in my lap and asked how it was to go to Uncle Art's house to get a bath. She filled in a lot of details! Even the small things can be so big to them.
Grownups, you too. Music brought me to tears a few times now. I know it's good to let it out. Conversations with friends.... stepping back and resting....keep hydrated and careful to eat nutritious meals. Thinking a day at a time....or even 10 minutes at a time instead of too far out. Oh, yeah, and breath. I think I'm forgetting that one!

Dear Kindermusik friends, much love to you all in western North Carolina area. I hope you are safe and property is safe. My family and I have much to be grateful for. So many helping hands and generosity. It is beautiful to see. I continue to pray for families with loved ones who do not know yet the whereabouts of their kin and friends. As far as Kindermusik classes...i am trying to imagine when we can resume....water, safety on the roads for all ...I will let everyone know of course. This the goal!

I'm about to begin my 29th year of teaching Kindermusik. It's a busy season but I'm so looking forward to singing and twirling with the children I work with. Since 2000 Kindermusik International has recognized Top Programs world wide. I have been awarded this designation every year except 2008. That was the year that I relocated from Michigan to Asheville. The next year I was recognized for the studio with the fastest growth WORLD WIDE. What an honor. Every year it is an honor. I am grateful to the families that have chosen Kindermusik with Yvette!
