Haw Creek buses roll in the morning! Please be vigilant in keeping our students safe to and from school each day!
School is back in session across Buncombe County, which means our roads, sidewalks and bus stops are getting a little busier.
As students settle into a new school year, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone to help keep our kids safe:
• Slow down and stay alert in school zones.
• Never pass a school bus when its stop arm is extended and lights are flashing.
• Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.
• Watch carefully for students walking or biking, especially near schools, neighborhoods and bus stops.
• Parents and caregivers: remind children to use sidewalks and crosswalks when available and to look both ways before crossing the street.
• Give yourself a few extra minutes during morning and afternoon commutes. A little patience can make a big difference.
Whether students are walking, biking, riding the bus or being dropped off, getting them to school and home safely is a responsibility we all share.
From all of us at the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, we wish our students, families, teachers and school staff a safe and successful school year.
