The Academy at Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance

Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance is still going strong and bringing beautiful, professional dance to all of North Carolina! Please follow them for updates and continue to support them however you can!

So much is happening! Terpsicorps is excitedly planning for Antony and Cleopatra… artistic director Heather Maloy just started a new relationship with the Carolina Ballet with the premiere of a new ballet this past weekend on this gorgeous outdoor stage… and it looks like a tour of a separate rep show may be in the works for summer 2023. The only fly in the ointment is the loss of our beautiful studio space. The owners of the Academy at Terpsicorps have decided to close the doors after 7 years of a truly special, one of a kind dance school, leaving us without a home once again. If you know of a large space where we could lay down our dance floor for the summer… let us know! But for now… things are great! Who’s afraid of a little change?

Well folks, we’re packing up the tutus. The Academy is closing its doors and will not be continuing classes in its current form or location.

Our hearts are heavy today, but I am grateful for the time spent and shared with each person in this special place.

If you have a memory or special moment you would like to share, please post and tag us! The community is the heart and soul of a place and The Academy at Terpsicorps’s heart is big and full.

Boys Class Alert! 🚨

We’ve added a Boys Class (ages 5+) to our school year schedule: Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30pm 🙌

The class will be focused on building coordination, strength, flexibility, and connection to music. An aspect of teamwork will be incorporated in every class as well.

Summer classes are wrapping up this week! We’ve loved having our studios filled with enthusiastic students throughout the summer, but we’ll be taking a few weeks to gear up for the school year. 🙌

Featuring Rebekah! Rebekah has been busy dancing all summer at several intensives, including . While there, she took part in the creation of a dance film (2nd pic) and absolutely loved the experience!

We look forward to continuing to support Rebekah on her dance journey - she has made such great strides technically in the last year and has truly blossomed as an artist! She is both thoughtful and playful in her approach and is a great example for our younger students!

Featuring Mya! Mya wrapped up her summer intensive at and will be heading to for high school this fall concentrating in ballet!

Mya’s joy and passion for dance radiates in all she does! She is a great example of being open and willing to always try new things and her focused approach to classes, rehearsals, and performances is contagious. We are so excited for you, Mya, and are cheering you on as you continue your dance journey!
