Emotional Support Chicks: Special All-Call!

Small fry folks!!! You know who you are, out there making all those Small Size / Big Love chicks. 🐣

We have a request for sixty of them by 1 December. The sixty would go to children who were displaced by Hurricane Helene. These children have no home right now.

The chicks would come to me then head that way, so no change in process for us.

I said we would do it. I bet we can do more… I have a vision of providing Chicks to shelters and first responders.

So, please: Break out your hooks or your needle. We have children to help.

Two more today!

The chickens that arrived...and left!...today. They missed the group picture, but they made it to delivery via the Chicken Sleigh!

Chickens now are with a primary care clinic, a church serving predominantly Eastern and Central European members, and a dance center in Marshall that is holding classes in the library because they got flooded out.

I am happy to report that the chickens are LOVED, LOVED, LOVED. They pretty much disappeared into people's arms within fifteen minutes of arriving: there is a void in the human heart, it seems, that is filled when a stuffed chicken enters your life.

We also received some lovely handknits from a Guild. Boxes of chickens, backpacks, clothing, and everything else are going out tomorrow. Five churches are helping distribute, plus some friends, plus me.

I would like to get some of these to folks in Tennessee and first responders as well, so will be liaising along those lines next week.

We saw a World Central Kitchen water tanker near Aldi, and they were filling large square tanks to drop off in neighborhoods. I rolled the window down and said, "THANK YOU."

We believe in the process. Alan is in line to vote as an American citizen for the first time. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Just over the mountains from Asheville. The woman who had lost her grandmother's little mouse (see here, https://www.facebook.com/share/p/txHyUuxUp9n66QSX/) told me last night that she lost her entire house as well... and, like virtually everyone in the Appalachians, thought of others instead.

Another delivery of chickens!!!! We will have to tell the post office folks what is going on…

I will open more tomorrow and post pics but I did want to show you these: they flew in from Lerwick, Shetland!
