The untold story of a woman who lived ten lives. She’s often miscredited as the inventor of the menstrual cup. Though Leona Watson Chalmers didn’t invent the cup, she did much to raise awareness about its many benefits over tampons and sanitary pads with belts. I’d love to see a biopic about her. What’s in this video is mostly new information I uncovered in my research. There just be even more to discover! In a world where periods are celebrated how could we support people with periods? We asked at a recent art walk event at our menstrual cycle store and these are the answers folks gave us. The drawing of a cake really spoke to me.

Discs can be worn during adult activities (you know the one) and doing so will save your sheets! You might want to empty the disc prior to be on the safe side especially if your goal is to avoid staining your bedsheets and it’s a heavy day. It’s best to wait two hours to remove the disc after the activity so the disc is back to a reachable position since things elongate during your excited state. ***Sorry to talk in code here but not doing so might make the video invisible.

What you can’t do (or shouldn’t do) is try this activity while wearing a cup. As shown, the space isn’t there and you don’t want to risk an injury or pushing the cup into a position that will make it hard to reach. Yes, I am aware people have done it both accidentally and on purpose but it’s not intended for that purpose. If your desire is to engage in activities without painting the bed a menstrual disc is what you want. I
