Sometimes what you are manifesting hasn’t appeared yet because you’re not quite ready. Maybe you still need to learn a few things, broaden your experience, grow a bit. Trust the timing. I just read a book (I’ll talk about it in the newsletter) that I tried to read a few times before but I couldn’t get into it because I wasn’t ready to receive the message. When you’re ready to receive, whatever version of the thing you desire that will elevate your consciousness will appear. Stay focused. Visualize it. Show up and do the work. You’ve got this.

When I was in my early thirties I defined success as big trial lawyer with a gold Rolex and a Porsche. Lord. I laugh at that now. I drive a 2006 4Runner that I love, love, love and I’m happy to be behind the scenes. Now my idea of success is more about comfort-having a comfortable home and decent finances and doing what I love in some fashion. I love dogs and I want to help as many as I can so the fact that we can periodically foster a litter of puppies spells success to me. It’s funny how your ideals change over time. Think about it today…do you consider yourself “successful”? Think about your accomplishments. I’ll bet there are plenty you can name if you stop and think about them. And maybe give yourself a break on the “shoulds” and focus on the success you’ve already attained. 🏆🏆

There’s so much to be grateful for on any given day. Gratitude is the key to everything. Be grateful for what you have while working towards what you want. Happy Thanksgiving. (I can’t believe there isn’t a regular pumpkin emoji. There’s a garlic, for God’s sake. 🙄)

That might sound harsh, but I am an accountability coach, so there’s that. Whether it was a traumatic childhood, a relationship with a narcissist, or any other thing or things that have left scars, it’s up to you to start the healing process. There are too many resources out there nowadays (many of which are free) to continue to have your chip on your shoulder and think the world owes you an apology and better life. (Me in my 20s and 30s. 🙄) Six therapists and 400 personal development books later, here I am to help you. This is your responsibility. No one is going to do the work for you. There are people that have been through way worse and that aren’t bitter as****es. No excuses. Feeling like life isn’t fair? Go read Viktor Frankl’s book, “Man’s Search for Meaning.” Do the work.

When you get to the point where you’re fine if it happens and fine it it doesn’t, that’s where the power is. That means you’re trusting the Universe/God/Source to give you what you need, not necessarily what you want.

I am OBSESSED with this podcast. I stumbled on it (not really, it wasn’t random) a few days ago and decided to start at the beginning and I love it. There is also on IG if you want to check that out too. First and foremost, she’s hilarious. Seriously. She curses and she’s real and she’s saucy and I feel like she’s the British version of me. She tells incredible stories and gives great tips for manifesting. Her episodes are only about a half hour too, so I listen to at least one in the morning when I’m feeding dogs and getting ready. You won’t be sorry. Let me know if you give it a go.

I was watching “The Holiday” the other day (Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet…) and Matthew came in and said-haven’t you seen that before? I said, oh I’ve seen it probably 25 times. (For real.) I’ve also seen “You’ve Got Mail”, “Sleepless in Seattle”, and “Pretty Woman” that many times. Why? Because they have happy endings. They’re light and fun. There aren’t dragons torching people or mob bosses shooting people or futuristic apocalyptic famine scenarios like Matthew watches. I don’t know how he sleeps at night and that’s what I mean by lighten up. I step back from my personal development books too and insert some fiction or chic lit. I am about to dive into The Crown on Netflix. Everything you watch and listen to is absorbed into your conscious and subconscious so be aware. Lighten up the content occasionally and grab a funny book or watch “Caddyshack” again or something else you know will make you laugh. There’s so much heaviness in this world. Look for the light. It’s Friday. Have a great weekend.

My hair stylist (whom I adore) recently switched salons and I followed her to the new salon. I found her on IG before I even left New Orleans by looking at hashtags and she was at a salon right by my house. Barely two miles away. So I jumped all over that. She moved to a salon further away from me but she’s awesome so I’m staying with her. Anyway, she just told me that the current salon, which is light years beyond where she was in terms of EVERYTHING had actually tried to steal her away a few years ago but she wasn’t confident enough to make the move. This year, in the last four months, the time was exactly right to move and she loves it, she’s thriving, she’s learning amazing things, and the woman who owns/runs the salon is an incredible role model and mentor. (For real. The girl is fab and I want to be her when I grow up.) When you trust your instincts, and you know yourself, and you trust the process and the timing, you’ll end up exactly where you’re supposed to be at just the right time. That’s how this whole thing works. And I’m glad because I probably wouldn’t have opted to go to that first salon, I wouldn’t have met her, and I wouldn’t be writing this story with my fresh new cut and Creme Brûlée color. 😉 Trust!!

And that’s ok. Priorities shift. And sometimes they shift back. Here lately my priority has been to stay at peace and be happy. I don’t know that I actively sought that before. Back in the day I’d load my schedule up as much as possible to never have down time. Now I’m buying flannel pajamas and scheduling naps. It’s all part of the journey. There’s no guilt or shame associated with it. Change is a good thing. Embrace it.

It’s been a minute since I talked about a book, but this one needs to be mentioned. A New Orleans friend gave it to me on my recent trip there and I always think I’m led to certain books when I need them. (I’m going to put this in the Little Free Library close by for the next person who’s led to it.) Anyway, it’s about a girl who is full of doubts about her past decisions and regrets about “wrong” choices. She stumbles upon a library that shows her the outcomes of the “wrong” decisions, and that teaches her that regret is a heavy burden to carry. It’s an easy, fast read-some chapters are only two pages long. And it reminds me of that Gwyneth Paltrow movie “Sliding Doors” which looks at how one tiny difference-missing the train-can change your entire life. Read this book.

Whenever I finish a book I loved or hear a song with incredible lyrics, I always think about how grateful I am that the person wrote the book or wrote the lyrics and/or sang the song. What if the author never put the idea down on paper? I believe I’m led to certain books on purpose and I always thank the Universe for inspiring the author and helping them get the message out. Are you sharing your gifts? You never know whose life you’ll change.

Think about it. Your one small act of kindness can have a ripple effect with far reaching results. Empathy, compassion, and kindness cost us nothing but can be invaluable to someone we share it with. One small gesture. 💟🕉☮️
