Rhetoric is “the use of knowledge and understanding to perceive wisdom, pursue virtue, and proclaim truth.” (Leigh Bortins)
In other words, true rhetoric involves the expression of truth, goodness, and beauty through speech or writing.

The skill of rhetoric is best practiced by understanding what are commonly known as the Five Canons of Rhetoric. These canons, or stages, give students of rhetoric clear direction in crafting their speech, essay, lecture, presentation, or other work of rhetoric so that it appeals to their intended audience and persuades them toward truth, goodness, and beauty.

"Am I helping my child or unintentionally hindering them?". . .If you've ever wondered that, this is for you.

At Classical Conversations, we believe education is about more than grades or credentials. It’s about seeking truth, goodness, and beauty—and helping students grow in wisdom and virtue. That means customizing schoolwork to meet a child’s needs without compromising their character. Skipping hard assignments, inflating grades, or doing work on our child’s behalf can feel like mercy in the moment, but these choices can lead to long-term academic and spiritual harm.

CC Academic Advisor Deborah Switzer shares her insight on how we can protect and promote academic integrity while still personalizing the learning journey.

Creation is stamped with eternity.

The detailed precision of a DNA molecule, the consistent pattern of seeds in a sunflower, the beautiful swirl of a snail's shell, the mighty power of a hurricane, and the overwhelming grandeur of a spiral galaxy — all revealing and reflecting their Creator.

As we learn more about God's world, we are led to His Word. We see the Unseen, and we echo in celebration of His holiness.

The art of Dialectic is the processing of ideas by asking questions and using logical thinking, and classical educators impart this by using the Five Common Topics.

Originally used by great classicists such as Aristotle and Cicero, these common topics have stood the test of time and remain useful to this day. Mastering these skills is your secret keys to unlocking powerful conversations with your student to help them better understand and process any new concept.

What if the real key to understanding science isn’t just analysis, but observation?

Before the advent of the camera, all scientists were also artists. The two disciplines were inextricably linked, and both required the observer to take in the world with accuracy, patience, and wonder. As classical educators, we have the unique opportunity to reclaim these skills, reintegrate science and art, and raise students who see God's creation with reverence and awe.

Did you know that the comforting words 'Fear Not' appear in the bible 366 times,
one for each day of the year, plus one for leap year?

We know that there are many times that fear has replaced faith in our hearts, yet why should we fear when God has told us so many times to fear not?

We thank God, for His promise to be with us always, to strengthen us, to be with us, and to uphold us with His righteous right hand.
