Reading Divergent Mind was like breathing a sigh of relief followed by the clip: “this whole time?!”

Iykyk

If you’re a woman with a neurodivergent brain, I highly recommend this book because it is a wonderful example and representation of the experience that we go through.

Also, if you’re somebody that works with neurodivergent women this could be an amazing read for you too to get that perspective and really understanding a neurodivergent woman’s experience in the world.

YOU.

Formal Accommodations are an option AND learning how you work best is the first step.

this is the work I do. Because copy and pasting what other people do, including people with ADHD like me!, Won’t always work.

and when it doesn’t work, your left feeling like a failure and something is wrong with you. Nothing is wrong with you!

What is wrong is that you’re not learning how you work. Weir often shown how to work but giving yourself options on how to work within the system that you’re in.

Can you sometimes break free of the systems and work in a different way? Of course!

And sometimes, it’s helpful and beneficial for us to learn how to support ourselves within an existing system until we can either get out or learn what we need to succeed.

Are you ready to do that?

I’m creating an accountability group where we’re going to be working together on these exact things. Interested?

starting a new job, in a new home office, and transitioning from school year, to summer, then back to school year has made the past 12 weeks rather intense.

Hi, if you’re new here, I’m Kristina. I’m an ADHD coach who has a full-time job on top of the other work that I do and I am working really hard to figure out what dopamine looks like for me now that all the tools that used to work for me are no longer working right now.

Now as somebody who has had ADHD their entire life and has worked with ADHD professionals for years now I know that this does happen and, knowing and experiencing, it are not the same thing.

So join me, as I explore different types of dopamine filling, habits, and tools to help me gain momentum on my day, my hobbies, and anything else that’s happening in my life, including parenting.

having the right environment to thrive is completely underrated.

In the beginning of my working career, I was under the impression that you should be able to work under any circumstances, and that was a testament of your skills and ability.

Now I know better.

Learning how to not only self advocate and under what conditions I work best, was transformative for me. Those two things alone have helped me move into a space of entrepreneurship, business ownership, and now and a job where I am fully remote working with a great team collaborating with business owners!

Knowing how I work and what I need to be successful also helps me show up for my family and my community is a whole.

How do you know what environment you work best in? Have you ever looked around and ask yourself? Does this makes sense for what I need?

And if you know that you would work better in a different environment, what is one step you can take today to start moving in that direction?

Something small, something intentional.

I was still masking in ways I couldn’t even see for myself. Confident on the outside, panicking underneath.

Four months of being humbled — by my clients, by my own business, by one question at a retreat that broke something open. I realized I needed breathing room, and I took my own advice for once. Not for productivity. For reflection.

I stopped leading with the polished version and started building around the real one.

Productivity isn’t about squeezing more into your day.

It’s about protecting your brain for the decisions that matter most.

Do you agree?

Holy s**t these results are great!

I feel vulnerable saying this, and I have to share that. These results had me on cloud nine for this organization!

The main focus of this pilot program was to launch with this restaurant group a leadership development cohort that had, at its foundation, an executive functioning focus.

The intention was to focus on Ben’s meters and for them to better understand how their brains work, what they look like under stress, creating tools that work for them, and learning how to create personal tests.
according to the end of program results every single participant saw, I’m increase an improvement in their executive functioning skills at work

An average gain of 23% in their leadership skills

And five out of six of the tools that we worked on and shared got adopted.

Numbers don’t lie. Executive functioning as a key foundational meringue, skill, and leadership development works.

My next step is to start looking for ways that I can expand this pilot into a bigger group.

ADHD explains my situation, but it doesn’t excuse it.

If you are leaning into your ADHD as something, something that you use as an excuse constantly, you are doing yourself a disservice. Well, ADHD can bring on so many Bility that other people don’t necessarily have, it also brings in additional challenges.

For me today, it was realizing that I hadn’t picked up my meds in time for the prescription to be refilled. Which means that now I have to wait extra time for it to actually be refilled and I didn’t have my updated insurance card.

My ADHD explains the situation. It does not excuse it so I move into what would help me do this next year when my insurance changes over and next month.

I have a love-hate relationship with reminders so my rule on reminders is that I only use them for one off things that don’t happen regularly meaning daily or weekly. So monthly, quarterly, and annually get put into a reminder so when it does pop up on my phone or my computer, it is novel it is different and I get into a cadence all these years later that helps me keep those tasks moving. And this is a great candidate for reminders for me because I pick up my meds every 90 days and then my insurance only changes annually.

That is what works for me.

If you’re trying to figure out how to keep track of things having reminders for everything does not work because you just are perpetually getting reminders constantly and then it becomes a background noise.

So you have to ask yourself the questions:

How do I best take action?

Do I need to have things visually or do they need to pop up when it needs to occur so I can take action with urgency?

Start there! What have you found that works best for you when it comes to getting your medication or doing things that only happened a couple of times a year?

That’s not a flex. It’s a limitation.

Left alone with a deadline three weeks out, I will do nothing for nineteen days. Then I will do all of it in a panic and call it “working well under pressure.”

For years I treated that as a character problem.

Something to fix with a better system, an earlier alarm, more discipline. It never worked, because it was never a discipline problem.

So I stopped trying to fix it and started building around it.

Everything I work on has a person attached now — a check-in, a shared doc, someone who knows the date. Manufactured accountability. I don’t wait to feel motivated. I make the deadline real by putting a human on the other end of it.

The goal was never to become someone who self-starts in a vacuum. The goal was to stop needing to.

Finish the sentence for me: I work best when ______.
