Randolph Community College has provided 53 Lenovo ThinkPad laptops to every currently enrolled Apprenticeship Randolph and Industrial Maintenance Technology apprentice, along with one Graphic Design apprentice.

The laptops were made possible through RCC’s partnership with the Piedmont Triad Regional Council and funding from the N.C. Department of Information Technology’s Digital Champions Grant program. By ensuring these students have the technology they need, RCC is supporting their success in the classroom, on the job, and beyond.

During today’s 9/11 remembrance ceremony on the Asheboro Campus, Asheboro Mayor Pro Tem Eddie Burks shared his memories of September 11, 2001, including the story of Sandy Waugh Bradshaw, whom he knew personally.

Bradshaw, a Randolph County native, was a flight attendant aboard United Airlines Flight 93. Through Burks’ reflections, those gathered were reminded that the lives lost that day were not simply names or numbers—they were family members, friends, and neighbors whose stories continue to be carried forward.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

Today, Randolph Community College’s Emergency Services Training Center hosted its annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.

With each step, participants honored the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call.

Protecting children requires knowledge, preparation and collaboration.

RCC’s Child Advocacy Studies (CAST) training equips current and future professionals with the skills to recognize, respond to and help prevent child maltreatment. Hear from Mandy Christian about how this multidisciplinary training prepares participants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.

Here’s what’s happening at RCC during the week of Sept. 7-11.

The College will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day. Later in the week, students can take part in Battle of the Boards, a Rotaract Club meet-and-greet, and an SGA meeting.

On Friday, RCC will commemorate 9/11 with a Memorial Stair Climb at the Emergency Services Training Center and a remembrance ceremony at Azalea Park.
