While barn owls don't always stay together for life, many form long-term pair bonds and return to the same nesting site across multiple breeding seasons when conditions are right. Even after raising their owlets, pairs often continue spending time together around the nest, roosting side by side, communicating with one another, and maintaining their territory. 🥰

Maple and Dash are still hanging out at the RBO Villa, and we’re definitely crossing our fingers for another clutch. 👀🦉Until then, we'll happily keep watching these sweet little moments.

When we received the call from Wildlife Research Institute about an abandoned barn owl owlet in Alpine, we knew time wasn’t on this little one’s side. It had gone 6 days without its Mom 😰

Growing barn owl owlets need frequent meals to survive. By the time Stacey, our Fairy Owlet Mother, and Juan, professional tree trimmer, reached the nest, Frisky was starving. What followed was one of the most challenging rescues we’ve ever been part of. Nearly 20 feet in the air, a tiny access door and a frightened owlet. Stacey and Juan sprung into action to get this little guy some help.

Thankfully, Frisky made it safely to Project Wildlife, where the team immediately began providing the care he needed. Today, we’re hopeful he’ll be healthy enough to return to the wild where he belongs. Every rescue takes people willing to show up when wildlife needs them. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in giving Frisky a second chance, especially Juan.
