The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. is voluntarily recalling approximately 1.6 million dozen shell eggs due to the potential presence of Salmonella Enteritidis.
The recalled eggs were distributed to retail and foodservice customers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, and were sold in retail stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Mississippi, and other smaller retail outlets. Arkansas consumers may have purchased affected products through Brookshire Grocery stores.
Recalled Products
The recall includes select white shell eggs and brown cage-free eggs sold under multiple brand names, including:
Kroger
Simple Truth
Brookshire’s
Country Morning
Sunups
The eggs were produced between June 6 and July 3, 2026, and have sell-by or best-by dates ranging from July 20 through August 17, 2026. Recalled cartons will have plant codes P-1950 or 0840962 (840962), and Julian dates 157–184 printed on the side of the carton.
About Salmonella
Salmonella infection can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Severe illness is more likely among young children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
Consumer Guidance
Consumers who have purchased recalled eggs should:
Not eat the eggs.
Return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Discard any eggs that cannot be verified as unaffected.
Wash and sanitize any surfaces or containers that may have come into contact with the recalled eggs.
At this time, the company reports that it is not aware of any illnesses associated with the recalled products.

We had a great time working on our Mental Health while trying our hand at cake decorating. Each participant made a 2-tier wedding cake style design. We have some extremely talented people in Little River County. Most had never made a cake at all.
