Osmania Hospital acquired the adjacent land over the past few months to construct another building. This expansion will allow the hospital to triple its bed capacity to 210. The number of needy and poor patients has been increasing at a fast rate and the hospital badly needs to expand its facilities. At least $600,000 is needed to construct the new building. Osmania Hospital in Karachi provides totally free or low cost healthcare facilities for poor people. The hospital has been providing these services since 1950.
Attached is the Annual Report of the hospital for the year 2016-2017 which provides details of the facilities, progress, new developments and statistics of the patients it has served.

Hyderabad Foundation USA supports the activities of the hospital to facilitate the poor patients and to improve the infrastructure and facilities at the hospital

The Accounts Department at the hospital was recently renovated to enable better record keeping and to provide more efficient services to the patients. This will allow for a better internal and external audit of the finances and accounts at the hospital, and give better satisfaction to the donors.

With the help of donation given by a philanthropist, Osmania Hospital, Karachi recently purchased a Computed Radiography System (CR) for X-Ray department from M/s Fuji at a total cost of Rs. 1.4 million.
This CR system provides a very superior quality X-Ray image, which helps the physicians and surgeons to identify the issues, which leads to a better diagnosis and treatment.
Osmania Hospital, Karachi continues to improve its services with the support of its donors to provide free or low cost healthcare for the needy.

A training on "EMERGENCY TREATMENT OF HEAT STROKE PATIENTS" was conducted by Dr. Raja Gurdutt (Consultant Physician) at Osmania Hospital, Karachi on April 21, 2017.

Doctors and senior para medical staff of the hospital attended the training. The basic aim was to prepare our doctors and staff to handle any crises due to increase in body temperature of patients.

Osmania Hospital Karachi has started Keyhole Surgeries for gall bladder and appendix using a laparoscope. The equipment was donated by one of the hospital donors.

This procedure allows for faster healing and recovery of the patients, and lesser / smaller scars on the body.

Bedside Patient Monitors donated
Recently, Osmania Hospital purchased 5 Bedside Patient Monitors to provide better service to critical patients. Two of these are being used in the Emergency Department, two in the Operation Theatres, and one in the ICU.
The monitors were put into operation on November 15, 2016, and were donated by one of the well-wishers of the hospital.

Free Medical Camp at Gharo, Sindh on 18 December 2016, conducted by Osmania Hospital (A Hyderabad Trust charitable hospital)

Osmania Hospital (a Hyderabad Trust charitable hospital) conducted a Free Medical camp of Gynae/Obs, Pediatrics and ENT at Gharo (Sindh) on Dec. 18, 2016. The camp was conducted at the Asar Hospital, the only charitable hospital in Gharo which is operated by Mr. Mumtaz Kazmi.
During this camp, free consultation and medicines were provided to 336 patients. Saylani Welfare Trust provided some medicines for this camp while the remaining medicines were arranged by us. Some photographs of the camp are attached.
Gharo is a backward area of Sindh. The local population is very poor. They have very limited resources to make their two ends meet. There is shortage of food and clothing, and they do not have medical facilities. During winters, the children becomes seriously ill due to shortage of warm clothes and proper food. Their parents have no resources to afford medical facilities. The free medical camp was indeed a great blessing for them.
Poverty is increasing day by day in such areas due to lack of education. Almost all children up to the age of 10-12 years waste the whole day by playing on streets. They have no aim, no guidance and no vision in life. Even their parents not know about the advantages of education which can change their life. We hope other organizations will come forward to provide education / basic necessities of life for these deprived people.
