Rock Ridge Sings

Rock Ridge High School choral booster club The Rock Ridge Sings choral booster club was established in August 2014 to support the musical arts at Rock Ridge High School, and specifically the various choral music programs under the direction of Conductor Jordan Markwood.

Mission: The Rock Ridge Sings choral booster club mission has five components: 1. Encourage and facilitate growth, success and sustainability of the Rock Ridge choir program. 2. Provide fundraising support for choir expenses and related student activities. 3. Facilitate volunteer support for the choir program and its events, activities, and functions. 4. Promote the Rock Ridge choir program, including its performances, activities, students, and community. 5. Foster greater communication between students, parents, choir directors, school administration, and the community at-large, as relates to musical arts.

Congratulations to Ishan Saha for being selected to the 2020 NAfME All-National High School Honor Choir! This is a huge accomplishment and a testament to hard work and dedication as Ishan had to rehearse and record his audition at home during the pandemic! While we are unsure if the event will take place in November, we are incredibly proud of Ishan for being the first Rock Ridge Singer to receive this honor! Keep up the great work!

This is a collection of photos from our musical journeys this year as Rock Ridge Sings. "Earth Song", "I Dream a World" and "In My Life" arrangements accompany memories from the past year with our members, families, friends, and fellow musicians.

In honor of Memorial Day we’d like to share this recording of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” we performed earlier this year for our Veterans Day concert and the Johnny Vet performance. We acknowledge that Freedom Isn’t Free and thank all those individuals and families who have made the ultimate sacrifice to help us secure and sustain our freedom! #MemorialDay #AttitudeOfGratitude #RRSings

LCPS Music Department

Thank you to all of our administrators, parents and our incredible musician students for making this possible! I can't wait to see you back in the classroom to continue this tradition of excellence!

Congratulations to all our wonderful music teachers!! We appreciate all that you do!!

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has again been named as one of the 2020’s Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.

Now in its 20th year, the awards program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the curriculum. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education. These districts and schools set the bar in offering all students access to comprehensive music education.

Research into music education continues to demonstrate educational/cognitive and social skill benefits for children who make music. In a series of landmark studies by scientists and researchers at Northwestern University a link was found between students in community music programs and life-long academic success, including higher high school graduation rates and college attendance. In another study from the University, it was discovered that the benefits of early exposure to music education improves how the brain processes and assimilates sounds, a trait that lasts well into adulthood.

Because choir is greater than the sum of its parts

Missing everyone today especially! While we won’t be going to Assessment together, hopefully we can get together again soon. 🤟🏻 Here is the deal my friends: Unless you are singing in a room with people, it isn’t choir. Period. Choir is about connection. Choir is about 30 or 210 or 6 singers all shaping a vowel so perfectly that the overtones extend up to heaven and make the angels weep. Choir is your college roommate, she ...
