Meet Ms. Ava:

Ava Pakiam is an 9 year old violinist and rising fourth grader based in San Francisco. Ava began her violin studies with her mother, Amy Beth Horman in Washington D.C. At age 7, she was admitted into the Pre College program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she continued her studies with violin professor, Davis Law. She is currently a student of violin professor, Simon James.

Ava was selected as the youngest first prize winner of the 2018 Pacific Musical Society Competition in San Francisco and had the honor of performing at the Green Room in 2018.
In that same year, she made her solo debut with orchestra in California performing the Mozart Concerto No. 2 with the Fremont Symphony. She later performed Vivaldi’s Winter Concerto with orchestras in Boston and New York City at Carnegie Hall.

Ava had the privilege of being one of the chosen performers at the San Francisco Conservatory Pre College for their “Kick-Off Concert” marking the beginning of the 2018-19 school year. She also gave her first full recital this year as the youngest performer on the St Francis Music Series in San Francisco.
This summer Ava was invited to participate in the Ben Verdery Festival in Maui with her chamber partner and guitarist, Emilia Diaz Delgado.

In August, Ava will be performing the Dvorak Mazurek with youth orchestra at Nom Nom Music Festival in Palo Alto, California. This is her second performance with this group having performed Monti’s Csardas with them last year.

This December Ava is excited to perform the Mozart Adagio in E with the Ashburn Youth Symphony in Virginia for a special production entitled, “The Toy Symphony, Christmas in 1761”.

Ava is currently playing on a 3/4 size Gagliano selected for her by Potters Violin Shop in Maryland.

In addition to music, Ava loves art, baking, and dancing with her sister Freya.
