Hi all. Last week I was at a conference and used my phone for most things, including social media. What I realized is there were several messages, some of them really old, that I never knew people sent.

Here's the thing, I am not the best at social media, I don't know where all the buttons and features are, and I miss things a lot.

While reading the messages, most of them seemed to be unsolicited sales or scam messages. Those I will ignore on purpose. People who send me messages saying my stuff sucks, but you can make it better if only I buy your thing... You are wasting your time, I will assume it is a scam and move right past it.

For those of you who know me, you probably have other ways to contact me; use those first because I will see your message faster. If you are meeting me because of Social Media, please give me some context regarding how we know each other or what you are contacting me about. I need context; that is how my brain works.

I know this is not the best thing to admit when I am new to the scene and trying to start a business. But I figure it is better to be honest and say I may miss your message or ignore it if I think it is a scam or spam.

Today was VIP day with the whole day dedicated to learning from the legendary Dan Kennedy. I had never heard him speak before, but he’s very informative and quite entertaining. I was pretty lucky to be involved in this day because I hear that this will be one of his last large events like this. Well, there are multiple approaches to marketing the approach we discussed today had to do with finding a position in your market that can lead to innovation. Next, you take what he calls the heretic position to challenge the establishment with your innovation and finally be the person on the white horse to show others how you’re going to change things for the better. Well, that’s the simplified version anyway. Lots of notes taken today.

Getting started on the exciting journey of going to funnel hacking live 10. This is my first conference in quite a few years, so I’m happy to get out and be among people again. My somewhat secret wish is that I could travel for a living again. This conference is a good start.

So, behind the scenes, I have been learning how to make the most of Microsoft Loop. Now that I better understand how to use it, I am ready to create some videos. The first two videos are live on the HeatherMajors YouTube channel.

📙But here is the Readers Digest version. Loop can be inserted into email, chats, and Teams messages.

The benefit of doing this is you can gather information without sending multiple messages and then cobbling the pieces together. This one tip has saved me literally over 100 emails.

🖥 But Loop is more robust than just adding a component to a message.

You can also use the Loop app to create robust workspaces. These are like OneNote but better (IMO). I have stopped using OneNote.

Yes, I went there with Readers Digest. You need to be of a certain age to remember that magazine, lol. It was the old people's version of Shorts but for books.

STOP Teams Meeting Instantly with This 1 Trick! 12/04/2024

One of my biggest pet peeves in Teams is when people don't leave a meeting at the end and it just keeps running, sometimes for hours.
Turns out many of my friends did not know you can manually end the meeting to kick out those people who just wandered away from their computer.

Need to know how to do that too? Here is a link to the short video.

STOP Teams Meeting Instantly with This 1 Trick! One of my pet peeves is when people forget to leave a meeting when it is over. The meeting will keep running in the background until that person(s) leaves. H...

Today, I made an embarrassing mistake that I think we all make once in awhile.

I logged into a Teams meeting from a computer I had never used. People started joining, and as I said, "Hi, how are you?" I could tell from the other person's face that they could not hear me. Oh no, I forgot to check that my microphone was set up.

It used to be that you had to drill through several levels of meeting options to find and correct the settings. Not anymore!

Now you can fix your Mic (and camera) settings with two clicks.
1. Click the drop-down next to the microphone icon in the upper right corner of the Meeting window.
2. Choose your mic from the available options.

In my case, the meeting thought my speaker had a mic attached, which it did not. I just switched it to the web camera mic. Easy Peasy.

Hopefully, this helps someone today. Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Hi everyone! I created this software tutorials page to gather people who share similar interests. Many of us are given Microsoft 365 tools at work without the training to accompany them.

When I was learning Teams, Planner, Forms, etc. there were many training options that just did not cover what I needed to learn. The courses were too technical and used a lot of terms that no one bothered to explain.

Even worse, all the training options I found assume that the learner (me) already knows a lot about the tools. It is as if by osmosis, we would just understand how these apps worked.

So, I thought, I can learn this and then help others learn by breaking things down in a way that the average user (who is not the tech wizard of the office) can understand.

To that end, I am working on creating a Microsoft Teams Mastery course. Although I have designed courses and taught these concepts to the companies I worked for, this will be my first time building a course for sale to the general public.

Therefore, I am looking for 10 Founding Members to participate in the Microsoft Teams Mastery course. The course, group calls, and private group would be available to these early adopters at a 50% discount from the price when the course goes on sale to the general public.

This is a beta, so some of the lessons are ready to go, but not all of them. You will have a chance to ask your questions and provide feedback as I create the content. I do it this way because I think it is important to get input from a diverse group of learners.

If you want to be one of the 10 people who can get in on the ground floor at 50%, go to the link below to complete a form. https://forms.office.com/r/7ySD2e1sDB

I hope to get to know some of you soon.

You are chatting in Teams and realize that part of your conversation could apply to another person. But that second person does not need to see the whole chat. What do you do?

A lot of us copy/screenshot the relevant section of the chat. We now have a better option, though. Teams added the option to forward a chat message to another person or group in 2 simple clicks. Cool right.
