We are excited to have Ms. Christianna Querry join the Trailblazer family this upcoming school year! She attended school in Loudoun County as a child, and then continued her education at James Madison University. GO DUKES! She studied Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies with a concentration in humanities, social science, and science, as well as history and elementary education. She also received her Masters of Arts in Teaching from JMU. For the past few years she has been teaching third grade in another LCPS school and she LOVES 3rd grade! Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, reading, exercising, and spending time with family, friends, and her dogs, Eli and Toby.
We are extremely excited to welcome Marissa Midgley to Discovery. She graduated from Radford Univ. with a degree in Recreation and Tourism and a M.Ed in Special Education from George Mason University. We can't wait to start the school year with her on board!
We are excited to have Ms. Elsbernd join Discovery as one of our school counselors. Ms. Elsbernd grew up in Loudoun County and she is now lucky enough to work for LCPS. She enjoys spending her time with her Corgi, Crumpet or digging in the sand at the beach! Welcome Aboard!
We are ecstatic to welcome Ms. Hoeffel to Discovery’s 3rd grade team. She has taught in Loudoun County since 2014 and recently in Kindergarten, first, and second grade. She considers herself a life-long learner and believes in building strong relationships with students and their families. We are confident it will be an amazing year!!
We are so excited Mrs. O’Shaughnessy is returning to Discovery after a 2 year hiatus in Florida, and she is thrilled to return to the Trailblazer family for the 2020-2021 school year! While in Florida Mrs. O’Shaughnessy and her family took advantage of living miles from the beach, being an hour from Universal Studios, and were able to camp in the Florida Keys each January!
She has been teaching since 2003 in many different roles. She has taught both general education and special education in grades ranging from preschool to 2nd grade. Mrs. O’Shaughnessy graduated from Radford University with an Early Childhood Special Education/ Early Childhood Education degree. In 2015, she completed her Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction. Mrs. O’Shaughnessy has two children, a rising 10th grader at Broad Run and a rising 6th grader at Farmwell. The family wouldn’t be complete without their dog Jonny, whom they adopted while in Florida. Mrs. O’Shaughnessy is an avid runner and enjoys going on camping trips, sports, festivals, and the beach.

Hi Trailblazers! Our amazing and generous technology teacher Mrs Smith, has been spending her quarantine time making face shields for local health care workers. She has teamed up with a couple of other schools and they have been using 3-D printers to make these life saving face shields.
If you would like to help with this project, she is asking for you to write a thank you note, draw a picture, or just send words of encouragement. Attached below you will find a flyer with six different drop off locations in our neighborhoods. Look for a plastic tub marked “Health Care notes”. You can leave them with no contact and they will then be added to each face shield package.
