"Swaram" to me is all about singing together and having fun. It is a place to connect with children and adults of similar interest in music. I look forward to the time to sing with the kids and have fun.
Started by the mom and daughter duo in 2005, the school started small and developed into a well structured program with a detailed curriculum that covers the basics to the much more complicated elements of classical music. The school also offers a variety of programs that cover Light Music, Movie music and also a special program for the youngest artists.
Mission: Have fun while getting hooked onto music.
So excited to release our first video already in 1 week from the concert - Destiny for Artists with Autism.

Just having some fun in our classroom.. Check this out.. The kids in class wrote their own 'sahithyam' (lyrics) for some of the music they learned. I was so proud! :)
My kutti singers singing a Telugu rhyme - actually, these kids only know Tamil but picked up Telugu with no problem.
[03/14/12] This past weekend (Mar 10, 2012), Prathyusha, Hiya, Prenya, Teja, Sahiti and Rohan put up a great performance at the ATA conference - They sang "Ghanan Ghanan" from Lagaan and "Raaravenu" swarajithi. Once I get the videos, I will put them up.
[11/09/11] We kicked off another beginners Carnatic class as well on Sundays at 2.15pm - it is always so amazing to see the children begin to recognize scale and rhythm as they learn their first set of lessons.
[11/09/11] I am happy to inform you that we started another "Early Swaram" program for little kids in Herndon, VA. We meet every Saturday at 11.15am.

[10/12/11] This week at Swaram, we launched a new program for the younger kids (3-5 year olds). It was absolutely lovely to see varied expressions on their faces (some delighted, some lost) as we explored various sounds and tunes and rhythms. Our plan is to get a good handle on scale and rhythm and tune as we sing songs and learn the basics of classical music. Our ultimate goal is make sure that all of us have fun while getting hooked onto music. :)
[10/12/11] For Dusera, kids sang at the Durga Temple. They did a wonderful job singing "Ghanan Ghanan" (from Lagaan) with the music track. They performed "Brahma Murari" very nicely as well. The best part of all was the drive - me and my 6 budding artists in the car. On the way back, we stopped at McDonalds for dinner - Yes, we were a noisy gang at McD's. On the way home from McD's, we sang many songs - Man Mohana, Dil Se Re, Dynamite, "Party at the USA", Big Time Rush, etc etc. All in all, we had a blast! I will upload videos/photos soon.
