Stone Bridge Rowing Club

SBRC provides students from Stone Bridge High School in Loudoun County, Virginia the opportunity to learn and compete in the sport of Rowing.

The purpose of the Stone Bridge Rowing Club is to provide students from Stone Bridge High School in Loudoun County, Virginia the opportunity to learn and compete in the sport of rowing in a healthy, developmental and competitive environment that instills the ideals of sportsmanship, leadership, and cognitive development. Stone Bridge Rowing Club strives to instill in each athlete a love of rowing, the principles of fair play and sportsmanship, and the development of personal and social skills. SBRC intends to exemplify the principles and philosophies of US Rowing, the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. With US Rowing trained coaches, Stone Bridge Rowing Club aims to develop some of the finest youth rowing members in the state of Virginia while providing a safe and fun environment for athletes of high school age.

This has to rank in the top 20 of most challenging rowing conditions I have ever experienced. And this includes four years on the Muskingum and Ohio rivers back in college. Driving rain, wind, 40 degree temps, mud that would do justice to the World War One Somme battlefield. But the boys and girls varsity had an excellent session today, showing courage, strength and discipline. A particular nod to the girls V8 for finding their intensity in the two minute pieces! Let’s carry this momentum into the weekend!

Are you a coach or learning how to row? Here are a few tips :)

Our challenges are pretty small in comparison, don't you think?

You never think it can happen to you, until it does. Hoping to spread the word on this fundraising effort for @austinjrrowing. #Repost @wintech_racing with @get_repost
Some really tough luck for @arc_juniors @austinjrrowing. Luckily nobody is hurt but they lost over 100k in equipment in a freak fire. #teamwintech knows how great the rowing #community is. Let’s rally the troops. Here is the #gofundme to get them back on their feet.

Heat Sheets

Heat sheet for Stotesbury Cup Regatta Visit the post for more.

Looks like an early morning for Coaches, Coxswains and Lightweights on Saturday. I won't feel sorry for you when I tell you that you will need to be at the racecourse at 7 AM to rig boats.

Points of Note:
Coaches meeting (6:00 A.M.) is prior to Coxswain's Meeting (6:30 A.M.) Weigh-ins are from 6:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. 1st race is scheduled for 8:00 A.M. A 2nd coxswain's meeting and weigh-in windows have been requested. We are waiting to hear from the Chief Referee if there are sufficient resources to accomodate that request.
Races 9, 11/12 and 23 have multiple entries from the same school. In each case, the 2nd entrie is a boat that is "rowing up" from either the Ted Phoenix or another VSRC event because there was only one entry in their event. In each case, the 2nd boat is eligible to advance.
There were 20 entries in the W-1-4 event. They are rowing in 4-5 boat heats with 3 boats from each heat (12 boats) advancing to semi-finals. All 12 boats advancing will row in finals or petite-finals (12 boats row 3 times). There is at least 3 hours between all W-1-4 events.
The W/M-1-8 have been scheduled after the break. This was done to provide additional rest for the W-1-4s and to balance the regatta day before and after the break. All 1st 8 events have at least 3 hours rest between heats and finals.

Draft Schedule available here:

[04/27/15]   Reminder for parents... Get your SCRIP orders in as order will be submitted on Friday morning, May 1.
Money counts towards athlete's fundraising. Contact me if you have questions. Chris Suter
