The LCPS Student Maker Showcase at the Academies of Loudoun is Loudoun’s biggest "Show and Tell". It is a public exhibition of all forms of student making. Student exhibits feature the products of hands-on learning. Students in grades K-12 from across Loudoun county will showcase their creativity. Don't miss this great event, March 16th from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Academies of Loudoun.

Congratulations to the Academies of Loudoun students who were recognized as scholarship recipients at the Aviation Expo on Friday, 11/4.

Academies of Loudoun AP Environmental Science students thank Loudoun Water for the awesome gift bags and water bottles. Students committed to increased sustainability this quarter by wearing the same outfit every Wednesday as they learn how fast fashion affects the environment. Thank you Loudoun Water for your continued partnership with Loudoun County Public Schools and The Academies of Loudoun

Over 500 LCPS Academies of Loudoun students and staff participated in the school’s first ever school-wide pink out event on October 20th and 21st in an effort to raise awareness for
Loudoun Breast Health Network. Over $2,000 was raised through the sale of 300 pink shirts and generous donations. This event was a school-wide effort with support from Academy of Engineering and Technology engineering students who created the layout for the human pink ribbon, Monroe Advanced Technical Academy
graphics communications students who created the promotional posters for the events, and Academy of Engineering and Technology entrepreneurship students who designed and sold pink shirts through the school store.

"I accept this coat as a promise to myself for what I hope to achieve for my future." Congratulations to all the students who received their white coat this week at the White Coat ceremonies.

On Wednesday October 12th AET Engineering students performed a practice launch for their yearly high altitude balloon project. This project is an integration of AET Engineering students and AP Biology students from AET and AOS. The Engineering and AP Biology students collaborate on the project and design inquiry-based experiments to understand how Earth’s stratosphere is a near-space environment that is a model location for studying environmental conditions considered analogous to Mars’ surface.

This Sunday, June 12, Kashvi Ramani, a sophomore at Rock Ridge High School and the Academies of Loudoun will be reading her poetry at the American Poetry Museum in D.C. She is just one of 24 young poets in VA to be selected to receive this honor! Read more: https://lcps.pub/3xr6QWo

Uma Pillai won first place in the Medicine & Health/Behavioral Sciences Category and second place over all. She won a $1500 scholarship and will now move onto the national competition which will be held in Albequrque, New Mexico in April.

The LCPS 2022 Maker Showcase was a huge success! A big shout out to all the students who presented their creative and imaginative projects, it was great night of hands-on learning!
