The Well-Balanced Teacher

Excellent article about how simple changes to our language can teach them to value the job they did instead of the value placed on it by others. Pick one of the 5 things what do you notice about your child as you make said language changes?

Here's a follow-up to my last post. One of the ways we accidentally slide into teacher-centric (or parent-centric) language is by praising too much (and for the wrong reasons...and in the wrong ways). We can do better.

Leprechaun magic was in the air this week!

They also need toys that help their develop their language, their social skills...” Look like are afterschoolers are developing their relationships, social and creative skills!

Pediatricians Say Kids Need Simple Toys, Not iPads And Electronics

Pediatricians are recommending that the best toys are those that “go back to basics.” In addition, the focus is moving away from toys that are “educational” to simple play based toys that encourage creative and imaginative play which promotes a child’s social and emotional development. Further supporting studies that state children learn best through play. A great read and we are happy to see healthcare providers standing behind the research.
