This is what community leadership looks like! 🙌

In support of its Pack the 'Pack initiative, BCT-The Community's Bank partnered with LEF to fund the Backpack Coalition program, designed to feed students with food insecurity.

Throughout the school year, this program offers food, snacks and hygiene items to more than 1,000 families in Loudoun County, ensuring that they can focus on their studies instead of basic needs.

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Jane O’Connor as the inaugural Loudoun County Public Schools Health and Medical Sciences Resource Teacher for the school division. Dr. O’Connor taught Biology and Chemistry at Tuscarora High School during the 2022-2023 school year.

Originally from New Jersey, she completed her undergraduate, post-graduate, and medical school education at The Johns Hopkins University, Rowan University, and the American International Medical University, respectively. Following graduation from medical school, she pursued surgery: training in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Providence Hospital, then Orthopedic Surgery at Howard University Hospital.

While at Providence Hospital, she founded a formal research fellowship program for plastic surgery focusing on surgical wound healing and management. At Howard University Hospital, she developed another formal research fellowship. She was the academic research coordinator for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Howard University College of Medicine.

Dr. O’Connor looks forward to the future and the opportunities the Health and Medical Sciences Academy will provide our LCPS students.
