A message from our Hillside Family Liaison:
At Hillside, we are committed to making our school a place where every single student can thrive. To better support our neurodivergent, special education, and early childhood learners, we are launching a school-wide initiative to build dedicated sensory spaces! These spaces will provide students across the school with a safe, quiet place to regulate, focus, and recharge when the busy school day becomes overwhelming.
Smaller projects get funded much faster on DonorsChoose, so we’ve broken our school's needs down into three targeted phases. If you are able to donate or simply share these links with your network, you will be making a massive difference for the wonderful kids at Hillside:
🟢 Phase 1: Calming Corners & Active Seating (Funding cozy tents, crash pads, and movement chairs to help students regulate their bodies!) https://www.donorschoose.org/project/safe-spaces-for-regulation-sensory-seat/10338973/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=directlink&utm_campaign=tpc_complete&utm_term=teacher_4507080&rf=directlink-dc-2026-06-tpc_complete-teacher_4507080&challengeid=22639110
🔵 Phase 2: Light, Sound, & Tactile Exploration (Funding calming light covers, bubble lamps, and soothing tools to lower anxiety throughout the school day!) 🔗 https://www.donorschoose.org/project/sensory-sanctuaries-cozy-corners-for-ac/10339003/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=directlink&utm_campaign=tpc_complete&utm_term=teacher_4507080&rf=directlink-dc-2026-06-tpc_complete-teacher_4507080&challengeid=22639110
🟡 Phase 3: Early Childhood (ECSE) Foundations (Funding specialized therapeutic seating and fine-motor boards tailored for our littlest preschool learners!) 🔗 https://www.donorschoose.org/project/little-steps-big-strides-seating-and-t/10334079/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=directlink&utm_campaign=tpc_complete&utm_term=teacher_4507080&rf=directlink-dc-2026-06-tpc_complete-teacher_4507080&challengeid=22639110
Thank you for supporting true inclusion at Hillside and helping our students succeed! Clear hearts, full school, can't lose! ❤️🍏

Hello Hillside Families,
Hillside is hosting a Book Swap April 20-24. The Book Swap is a great way for your student to clear a few “outgrown” books off your shelves and discover new favorites.
Here's how the Book Swap works:
Students may bring in gently used books (as soon as possible!! Monday would be great!) . Unlimited elementary-grade donations accepted. We especially need books for grades 4-5.
Large donations may be dropped off at the table outside the main entrance.
During school on Monday through Friday, April 20-24, students who brought in books will get to pick books from the donations: 1 book for each book brought in, up to 5 swapped books. All students will leave with at least one book.
Extra books will be donated to teacher classrooms and the Loudoun Literacy Council.
Volunteers are needed to sort and help students choose age-appropriate books. Please consider signing up here: https://m.signupgenius.com/ #!/showSignUp/20F0A49ACAE23AAFE3-63449495-hillside?useFullSite=false
Questions, contact Erika Daly at [email protected].
Happy Reading!
