What brought you to WGB?
"I have always had a heart to volunteer and when someone in my church small group recommended volunteering at WGB, I jumped on it. At the same time, I had a personal desire to share my professional experience and serve on a Board of Directors at a nonprofit."
Why did you choose WGB?
"Why wouldn't someone choose WGB?! The only difference between me/my children and the clients we serve are life circumstances and social resources. I see them and think, that could be me. There is immeasurable joy that comes from using my gifts, resources and abilities to help change their lives. I remember when I first started volunteering, my son was 7 months old, so I was still in new baby mode. I would hunt down any pregnant clients, during open shopping and hold their bags and help them shop for their little ones and get to know them. I have also involved my daughter Journey, from the age of 4 years old. She loves supporting WGB and started her first fundraiser for her 7th birthday last year. Last, but not least, I could not pick a better circle of supporters, volunteers, staff and Board of Directors to serve alongside."
What’s the importance of this month and how does it relate to WGB?
"I was raised in the inner city of Queens, New York and witnessed crime, racism, drugs and homelessness. Thankfully, my life circumstances and resources for support allowed me to graduate from a Historical Black College and University (HBCU), the first college graduate in my family, and being part of the 1% of Black Certified Public Accountants in the county. WGB is that road for many black families and I can only imagine the success that will be attained and barriers that will be removed, if it were not for WGB and the work we do. As the first African American to serve on WGB's Board of Directors, I could not be prouder to be a part of this mission and the life changing work that happens every day."

In one of his latest books Dr. Benjamin Hardy describes the dilemma of going from 2x to 10x.
Many accounting and tax professionals are taught to hustle and grind our way to 2x, or work really hard, to get to the next level.
However the 10x concept in his book is a bit more simple.
To 10x is to strip away everything that isn't what you want and only focus on that.
