Mill Run Elementary School PTO

To design, promote, and maintain a unified group of parents and educators that "work together to keep children first".

Hello Mill Run! Thanks to our school community and the Ashburn community at large, Ashburn Cares is almost half way to our goal of $5,000 to help our food insecure neighbors during this incredibly difficult time for so many who are out of work. Every little bit helps - truly! (I was able to get oatmeal canisters that are what is most in need right now at Loudoun Hunger Relief that will feed a family breakfast for a week for only $2.50!)

If you are able to donate funds, please check out our Go Fund Me page below. If you can offer food - Loudoun Hunger Relief is most in need of whole grain cereal and oatmeal canisters (not the instant packets) - although they will accept all non-perishable and non-glass items. The drop off sites are below (boxes on front stoop for contact-less delivery).
Broadlands - ‪22026 Stone Hollow Dr ‬
‪Brambleton – 23225 Grayling Terr‬
Ashburn Farm– 21367 Clearwater Ct
If not, please help in spreading the word! Thank you so very much!!

Please visit our Go Fund Me page here: https://bit.ly/2LUOdkR.

May we all reflect on and thank the many who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Last year at this time, the Mill Run community – in collaboration with the community outreach organization Ashburn Cares (co-directed by 2 Mill Run moms Tiffany Haughn Bohn and Elisa Reinhardt) -conducted a very successful food drive to benefit our food-insecure neighbors in need via Loudoun Hunger Relief.

There are so many families struggling right now during these challenging and unsettling times. Any donation amount will help make an impact - no amount is too small. 100% of your donation will go to those in need. The donation drive lasts for 3 weeks from May 22- June 12. Please visit our Go Fund Me page to make a monetary donation: https://bit.ly/2LUOdkR.

If you would rather donate food than money, please visit our Ashburn Cares page for details on drop off locations and the food items that are most in need right now.

Please help us by spreading the word! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! Together, we can make a difference!

School supply kits are on sale now for the 2020-21 school year. We make it easy as everything your @MillRunLCPS Mountain Lion will need is prepackaged with each grade level list and will be sitting on their desk when they return. Order here: http://ow.ly/N0Ac50zKgZE

Mill Run community you should be so proud! Your donations helped to send 425 meals to healthcare heroes at 3 different local INOVA hospitals - Lansdowne, Ashburn and Leesburg. We serviced the day and night shifts and included the security and cleaning crews. Thank you for your generosity!

Thank you so much to our wonderful PTO president, Tiffany, for initiating this effort!

We ❤️ our MRES teachers!

Teacher Appreciation Week will look a lot different this year, but that doesn't mean we appreciate our teachers any less! We suggest having your child(ren) make a video, note or card and email it to their teacher(s). We know it would make their day! These can be sent any day this week. #mres20 #teacherappreciationweek

With today being May the 4th, we thought this would be an appropriate way to kick off our week of appreciation for our AMAZING MRES teachers!

Thank you again to everyone who donated to provide meals for our local healthcare workers!

Our PTO President, Tiffany, will be delivering these meals within the next week and offered to deliver the cards that your children made. If you would like to drop-off your child/ren’s cards, Tiffany will have a box placed outside of her house for you to drop the cards into. Her address is: 22026 Stone Hollow Dr, Broadlands, 20148.

Please be sure to also send pictures of your cards through this Friday via [email protected].

Our incredibly kind PTO President, Tiffany Haughn, is organizing a lunch delivery for the healthcare heroes at INOVA Loudoun Hospital and she invites all Mountain Lion Families to help out. The lunches will be ordered from a local restaurant - so it's a win-win!

If you would like to participate, please consider sending a monetary donation to either PayPal ([email protected]) or Venmo ([email protected]). Please make your donations by next Wednesday, April 22nd as the food will be delivered the week of 27th and time is required to place the order.

Photos will be shared with our wonderful MR community! Thank you so much for your generosity!

Just a friendly reminder that report cards were posted over the weekend...you know, in case you've also lost track of what day it is! 😆 #mres20

To all of our celebrating families, Ramadan Mubarak!

Wear your favorite sports gear tomorrow for Sports Day!

What a great new feature!

Here Comes the Bus® Available on Monday, April 13

Here Comes the Bus® is an easy-to-use mobile app and website that uses GPS tracking information to allow parents to see when their child’s bus is arriving. The program is easy to follow, has a customizable map and works on a computer, tablet or smartphone, allowing parents to see where the bus is and how close it is to the child's stop. With Here Comes the Bus® parents can:
• Get real-time bus location information
• Track multiple buses at one time

Because school buildings are closed at this time, the system will be used to track Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) buses as they make meal deliveries. Students will be assigned to the meal stop closest to their home address. Families will see the stop as well as when the bus is coming into the Notification Radius. During a regular school year, the morning and afternoon bus runs would be tracked.
Due to not being certain which families are taking advantage of the meal service, all students in the county have been assigned a meal stop. While you may not be using the meal service during this time, you can still sign up for Here Comes the Bus® and see a limited version of how it works and learn about the functionality it offers. You’ll be ready for the new school year.

PLEASE NOTE: During the meal delivery period, parents will receive notification that the bus is entering the zone around their meal stop depending on your choice of notification (email and/or text). Please monitor the bus in the app or website as you may not receive arrival notification via push or email. Once a run has been completed, the bus will not be visible in the app or webpage. During the regular school year, parents will see when the bus arrives at the stop.

Loudoun County Public Schools

Spring break in Loudoun County was made a little sweeter, thanks to the efforts of the #HairnetHeroes. LCPS School Nutrition workers today served three days’ worth of meals to Loudoun County families ahead of the spring break closure on Thursday and Friday. At Woodgrove High School, that meant the staff prepared 5,100 meals for distribution today. To accomplish this feat, the team worked over several days putting together these additional meals so students would have food on Thursday and Friday. Staff members hard at work at the Woodgrove meal site included: Genelda Bartling (Woodgrove); Irene Brown (Woodgrove); Sharon Cabaniss (Harmony); Crystal Gallahan (Woodgrove); Debralee Mahzoun (Emerick); Angie Price (Blue Ridge); and Molly Stiles (Woodgrove).

We’re all in this together! ❤️

With rain in the forecast today, we encourage students to decorate signs/posters to hold up during Friday's Mill Run Staff Parade. Let's show our teachers and staff some love as they drive by!

NEW TIME: We are so happy that the parade is back on! We know so many of our students are looking forward to seeing teachers and staff drive-by. Once the parade route is finalized, we’ll be sure to share it!

Happy Monday! Today we'd like to hear your favorite jokes. Type them out, post a video or email them to [email protected] and we'll share them. Be sure to use the hashtag #mres20 in your posts.

UPDATE: New time...the parade will now take place at 3:30PM

Mark your calendars: This Friday, March 27 at 10 AM, our Mill Run teachers and staff will be parading through Mill Run neighborhoods (within attendance zone boundaries). Listen for their car horns and step outside to wave hello! #mres20

Loudoun County Public Schools

All Loudoun County Public School campuses remain closed during this difficult time, while school buildings are closed in response to COVID-19. All playgrounds, athletic fields and courts are also closed to the public at this time.

LCPS outside facilities have experienced heavier than normal use in recent days, impacting the ability of residents to maintain the social-distancing measures that are recommended to slow the spread of the virus.

Signs will be posted on campuses beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, and residents are urged to adhere to all closure notices. Campuses that have been identified for the meals program are listed below and will remain open for that purpose only. (An updated map of delivery routes is available now, noting all stops that will be served beginning Monday, March 23. bit.ly/2wtlzTN)

Thank you for your cooperation and support on this important matter. By practicing community care, including social distancing and other preventative measures, we can come together as a community to help protect all Loudoun County residents’ health and well-being.

Timeline Photos

Many, many kudos to Loudoun County Public Schools and Loudoun County School Nutrition Services for implementing this plan to make sure all those who need meals can get them. 👏

The fleet of LCPS buses rolled out this morning to deliver breakfast and lunch to families across the district. Thanks to the staff behind the scenes in School Nutrition Services and Transportation Services who assembled the meals and made the deliveries. Members of the Superintendent's Cabinet joined staffers early this morning to assist with the meal packing and delivery.
