New potential sign ups late night at Sparks…

🏆 Victory at NAGA Virginia 2024! 🏆

This month, our team stepped onto the mats at the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) Virginia edition and delivered an incredible performance. After a day of tough matches and fierce competition, we’re thrilled to celebrate an impressive medal haul: three golds, two silvers, and one bronze!

A special spotlight goes to Emma Black, who made her No Gi debut and conquered her bracket with an outstanding performance. Competing without the Gi for the first time, Emma displayed exceptional skill, determination, and composure to secure the gold.

We also want to honor Diana Edwards, whose remarkable strength and technique earned her double gold in both Gi and No Gi divisions. Diana’s achievements highlight her dedication and fearless approach to the sport.

Congratulations to our entire team for their hard work, resilience, and outstanding results. This is just the beginning—onward to even greater heights!

Throwback to the end of September when the Sparks BJJ team hit the mats at the competition in the DMV area! Both our kids and adults took on the challenge, showing incredible heart and skill. In this intense round-robin format with multiple matches happening at once, we’re beyond grateful to our higher-rank instructors for their support—ensuring no student competed alone. Thanks to everyone’s hard work, we brought home 9 medals: 1 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze! Congrats to all our competitors for their dedication!

The Sparks BJJ team proudly took part in the Fall, held in Annandale on September 7th. Our athletes showcased their hard work and dedication, bringing home an impressive three silver medals and one bronze. Each competitor gave their all on the mats, and we couldn’t be prouder of their performances.

We were honored to have former UFC fighter lead an MMA workshop at Sparks Martial Arts. Aaron’s techniques covered a comprehensive range, from striking to combined grappling takedowns and submissions. His expertise and experience brought invaluable insights to our training. We feel truly blessed to have Aaron instructing classes at our gym, elevating our skills and pushing us to new heights in our martial arts journey.

Last weekend in Fredericksburg, the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation () hosted the Virginia International Open for the first time.

Sparks BJJ competition team prepared diligently for the event, showcasing a high technical level. Despite having only nine competitors, we brought home four golds, five silvers, and three bronzes, with some athletes also competing in the Open Class and No-Gi divisions.

Now, it’s time to return to the gym, slow down the training intensity, and enjoy the summer!
