A GOOD DAY IN PRESCHOOL SHOULD LOOK A LITTLE LIKE THIS. 🫧🎨📚

Busy hands.
Big smiles.
A little mess.
A lot of conversation.
And children completely involved in what they’re doing. 💛

We don’t expect little children to spend their days sitting still. They were made to move, explore, create, ask questions, make choices, and PLAY.

So we give them opportunities to do exactly that.

They squeeze and scoop. They listen to stories. They experiment with new materials. They practice using their hands. They learn to wait, share, communicate, solve problems, and try again.

And right beside them are teachers who know that the ordinary moments of childhood are often where the most important development happens. 🌱

We may have to clean the tables, sweep the floors, and occasionally discover shaving cream in places we didn’t know shaving cream could go… 😂

But these are the days we want our children to have.

Happy. Busy. Curious. Included.
And learning from beginning to end. ❤️

No rows of desks.
No tiny humans buried in worksheets.
No “sit still and be quiet” required. 😉

Instead?

There’s laughing.
There’s moving.
There’s pretending.
There’s exploring.
There’s getting down on the floor.
There are teachers right in the middle of the action.

And YES — they are learning. A LOT. 🙌

That circle of friends? Social skills.
That silly game? Communication.
That mirror? Self-awareness.
That pretend play? Imagination + problem solving.
That teacher on the floor? Connection, trust, and language development.
That giant smile? A child who feels GOOD about being here. 💛

Around here, we’re not interested in making little kids act like big kids before they’re ready.

We let childhood be childhood.

We play hard.
We laugh loudly.
We get messy.
We move our bodies.
We build friendships.
We practice independence.
We make mistakes.
We try again.

And somewhere in the middle of all that fun…

brains are growing. skills are developing. and children are THRIVING. 🌱✨

Because childhood doesn’t need to look like school to prepare children for school.

Sometimes the very best learning looks a whole lot like PLAY. ❤️

🖐️ MESSY PLAY = LEARNING! 🫧🤍

Sometimes the messier the activity, the more learning is happening! 😍

Our kiddos had a blast squishing, spreading, squeezing, patting, and exploring during sensory play. What looks like a table full of mess is actually a hands-on developmental experience!

Sensory play gives children opportunities to:

🖐️ Explore different textures through touch
💪 Build hand and finger strength needed for fine-motor skills
✍️ Develop pre-writing skills by making lines, circles, swirls, and other movements
🧠 Strengthen motor planning and problem-solving
👀 Practice hand-eye coordination
💬 Build language as teachers introduce words like soft, sticky, smooth, squishy, more, and all gone
❤️ Develop confidence while trying new experiences
🌈 Support sensory processing and self-regulation
🤝 Practice social skills by playing alongside friends, sharing space, and taking turns

And sensory experiences begin long before preschool! Even our littlest learners benefit from safe, age-appropriate sensory experiences like bubbles, movement, sounds, textures, tummy time, and reaching for interesting objects. 🫧👶

At From The Beginning, we know children learn with their whole bodies. They need opportunities to touch it, move it, squish it, investigate it—and yes, sometimes even wear a little of it! 😂🤍

So when you see messy hands, messy tables, and BIG smiles, remember:

It isn’t “just play.” It’s learning in action. 🧠✨

❤️ What Parents Don’t See Behind a Closed Childcare Door ❤️

There’s so much you don’t see once that childcare door closes. ❤️

You don’t see the early mornings spent preparing classrooms before little feet arrive.

You don’t see the planning, assessments, documentation, meetings, cleaning, sanitizing, and countless conversations about how we can help each child grow.

You don’t see the teacher who sits on the floor comforting a child who misses Mom.

The extra hug. 🤗
The wiped tears.
