Since the early 1990s, Nakul Dev Mahajan (So You Think You Can Dance, Disney's Mira, Royal Detective) has been teaching, performing, and helping shape the Bollywood dance community throughout Southern California. In 2003, he founded NDM Bollywood Dance Studios with a vision that remains unchanged today: to provide authentic, high-quality Bollywood dance training while creating performance opportunities unlike anything else available.

At NDM, we are more than a recreational dance program. We are a dedicated Bollywood dance academy with professionally trained instructors personally selected, mentored, and trained by Nakul Dev Mahajan. Students receive structured training that develops technique, confidence, artistry, stage presence, and performance quality.

What truly sets NDM apart is our productions.

Our recitals are not traditional dance recitals. They are full-scale theatrical experiences featuring original scripts, storylines, acting, characters, costumes, sets, lighting, and immersive storytelling woven together with Bollywood dance. Students become part of a complete production rather than simply performing individual routines.

At NDM, we go beyond the traditional dance recital. We create full-scale productions that reimagine stories through Bollywood dance, combining our students with actors from our community, costumes, sets, characters, and theatrical storytelling. It’s an experience that truly sets NDM apart.

Today, a dear friend visiting the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago shared these photos with Mr. Nakul Dev Mahajan . To discover that a photograph of him with Michelle Obama from 2013, along with his name, is featured in the library’s collection was an incredible honor.

For over three decades, Mr. Nakul has dedicated his life to sharing the art of Bollywood dance across the United States. To see that journey recognized in this way, not only as a representative of the Indian community, but also as an ambassador for Bollywood dance, is a truly meaningful moment.

On behalf of the entire NDM family, we congratulate Mr. Nakul on this special recognition and celebrate the passion, vision, and dedication he has poured into preserving and promoting Indian culture through dance.
