🖍️Transition Day at TRES was a succes🖍️
Our PK and Kindergarten students came in this morning and had a day filled with exciting adventures! They were able to go to each Specials Class (art, music, library, PE), had a visit from the administrators, ate breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria and visited with the school counselor. It was a great way to get the year started with some time and attention dedicated to our younger students. Tomorrow we will have ALL students back!! 🐾🐯🐾🐯

📚We are so excited!📚 It’s that time of year where we come back to the smell of new crayons, fresh notebooks, and books galore! We can’t wait to see all of our students and families to start our 2026-2027 school year. From Mrs. Minter: 📣 Year 27 of teaching is loading! 📣
I spent my first 11 years as a teacher at Rockfish and have spent the last 15 years teaching in Amherst County Public Schools, while my children were little. During my teaching career I have taught all grade levels in elementary school except 4th grade. I am excited to start year 27 as a kindergarten teacher at Tye River Elementary School! When I am not at school I love working in my church, spending time with my husband of 19 years and my two teens, baking all things sourdough, and walking while listening to audiobooks.

Hello Tye River! I can’t wait to meet you all!

I received my Masters of Teaching and Education Specialist degrees at Liberty University. I began my teaching career in Loudoun County Public Schools as a Teacher and Case Manager in Cross-Categorical Special Education. When my family relocated to Amherst, I served as a Case Manager, Special Education Teacher, and Kindergarten Teacher. I have also served as the Director of Education at a private day school. For the past several years I have been a Literacy Teacher and Literacy Coach in Lynchburg.

I am thrilled to be back in the classroom as a 1st grade Teacher at Tye River Elementary School!

I love trout fishing, reading to my grandkids, riding my horses, and spending time with my husband!

📣Rising 6th Grade Students/Families!! 📣Mustangs, we're thrilled to announce that Nelson Middle School is expanding its athletic opportunities for the upcoming school year! In addition to our existing athletic programs, students will now have the opportunity to participate in: 🏈 Football ⚾ Baseball 🥎 Softball ⚽ Boys' Soccer ⚽ Girls' Soccer
These exciting additions would not have been possible without the incredible support of our Nelson County community. Thank you to our local businesses, organizations, and everyone who contributed through fundraising efforts to help make these new opportunities a reality for our students. Your investment in our children will make a lasting impact, and we are incredibly grateful!
