Atelier de la Nature

Atelier de la Nature is a STEAM education center, nature reserve and sculpture park located in Cecilia/Arnaudville.

Our mission is to connect people to our region’s special nature and culture through creative, interdisciplinary programs. Atelier de la Nature is a twenty-five-acre nature reserve and eco-educational campus located in the heart of Louisiana’s Cajun country, that aims to inspire people to steward the nature in their own backyards and learn how, collectively, we can protect these natural gifts for f

uture generations. Started in 2017 by biologist and artist Brandon Ballengée, and sustainable food educator Aurore Ballengée, Atelier de la Nature’s programs use active learning methods that combine art with science and nature-based education as a means to empower people to become stewards of their local environment. Louisiana ranks among the worst states in the nation for science education and we want to help fix this! Likewise, art is not taught nor available to most students in our or other surrounding Parishes and we want to help children learn to express themselves through the arts.

🦇 Come make stuff with us during our Halloween Makers Team - Props & Decorations Making Sunday !

Join us every Sunday from 11am - 4pm to make props and decorations inspired by bats, owls, moths, frogs, fireflies, and other real or imaginary "creatures of the night" that come alive after dark.

No special skills needed, just a love for making things, a willingness to get messy, and a dash of magic. Children are welcome. Lunch will be provided.

This Saturday, join us for Introduction to the World of Sewing - Sewing Machine Edition!

Join us for a hands on class learning the ins and outs of the marvelous tool that is the sewing machine. Join us to learn how to use your machine, hands on, by making your own tote bag craft you get to bring home at the end of the day! Students are encouraged to bring their own machines from home, but there will be vintage machines available for anyone who would still like to join!
