At the Dallas Skyline vs Terrell alumni basketball game, my Coach, Friend, and Mentor Coach JD Mayo was given the “ Work Like a Walk- On “ Lifetime Achievement Award “

Coach Mayo started coaching at Skyline in 1976 and was the head basketball Coach for 33 years ! He won a total of 698 games and is the ALL-TIME winningest coach in DISD (Dallas Independent School District ) HISTORY. Coach was also named NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL 🏀 COACH OF THE YEAR in 2000! Coach also coached baseball and was a big fan and participant of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) which he was very proud of. Helping students in their personal lives deal with life situations through prayer

We are proud of Coach Mayo now aka to some as “Big Poppa “ and his family for all of his achievements and helping thousands of students maneuver through life while teaching us the game of basketball . A little more hardware for the trophy case🏆!

Congratulations to Manny Obaseki and The Texas A&M Aggies for making it to the “Big Dance” this year with a impressive record of (15-3) in conference and (25-10) overall. Manny has an incredible work ethic with a great attitude to match. He plays both ends of the floor and is always working hard to improve his game and be a better teammate. We are proud of him and all of his accomplishments! 🏀EBST

Congratulations to Ja’Mya (“Mya”) Brown and the Lady Cadets of Waco Connally in their victory over a good Taylor team to become the 2023 4A Area Champs🏆!. This year Ja ‘Mya received 2 team All-District honors and we are really proud of her success.🏅With one more year of eligibility Mya will definitely be a player to watch for as she heads into her Senior season

Congratulations to Coach Allen, Jonathan Walden and the Oakwood Mustangs on a incredible season making their first appearance in the Alabama state basketball tournament. They came up just a little short of the title , but we are very proud of them and their efforts. 2023 Alabama Class 1A State State Runners up! 🏆

I am very proud of this young lady and I can not say enough about her and her many accomplishments . 9 straight Texas UIL appearances - 3 for basketball , 2 for track and field and 4 for cross country. FFA Chaplain , Secretary and Homecoming Queen . Mattie Burns or “Mattie B” as I like to call her was a great addition to our program . She was a very hard worker who always brought a positive attitude and never complained 1 single time when I asked her to do something out of her comfort zone or to push herself. She is a an incredible human being , an unselfish player and has mastered the concept of team play. This young lady truly possess the heart of a champion ! 🏆

Congratulations to Coach Bruce , Mattie B and the Martin’s Mill Lady Mustangs on another incredible season of Mustang 🏀! Regional Finalist for the 18th straight year in a row and reaching the state finals 16 out of the last 18 years since 2006 ! They came up just a little short in the Semi- Finals against a good Lipan team but we are proud of them and their great season and tremendous effort.
