Looking to start a path towards a career, perhaps a career change, or a new hobby. If you have dreams of flying, getting a pilot certificate, or ever thought of starting flight training then a discovery flight is a good place to start. A discovery flight also known as an introductory flight lesson is a chance to discover your passion by going in an airplane with a Certified Flight Instructor.

Glacier Peak Aviators offers a one hour discovery flights for $195 in our Cessna 172K A discovery flight consists of short pre-flight briefing and inspection, we will then depart from Arlington out to the practice area where you the client will get a chance to take the controls and fly the airplane, you can fly the airplane as much or as little as you want to, see the Pacific Northwest and Puget Sound region from above, take pictures, after that we will land back at Arlington for quick debrief and we will log your flight in a logbook as your first hour towards a private pilot certificate.

The discovery flight is also a chance to ask questions you may have about how to get started with flight training and the flight training process. If you, the client, is interested in pursuing flight training after an exciting discovery flight we can help get you started by applying for a student pilot certificate and get you set up to do a medical exam.

Hello Everyone, Brian Calhoon with Glacier Peak Aviators. I would like to tell you a bit about our Cessna 172 that is available for flight training.

Here at Glacier Peak Aviators training is conducted in a 1970 Cessna 172K N7YZ with the Penn Yann Lycoming O-360 180 HP Superhawk upgrade. Our C172 is equipped with a Garmin GTN 650 GPS/COM/NAV, Garmin GNC 255 for the second COMM/NAV radio, Narco 150 Transponder, and Garmin GMA 340 audio panel. N7YZ has a standard analog instrument panel, but will get panel upgrades and electronic instruments such as Garmin G5s at some point in the future.

N7YZ is equipped to handle all training needs and can be used for all flight courses offered at Glacier Peak Aviators which are Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI, and CFII.

Prior to Glacier Peak Aviators purchasing our C172 N7YZ, it spent most of its life as an owner-flown airplane primarily right here in Washington state. N7YZ has spent time in Chehalis, also spent some time flown by an owner up in Canada, and was recently owned by a person over in Palouse, WA near Pullman. When we were looking for in airplane to start Glacier Peak Aviators with I knew right away a Cessna 172 would be the best aircraft to use since it is the most common trainer, most of my training was in 172s, big enough so most students can fit in them, they’re basic and forgiving platforms to train in, and a lot of fun to fly. We found N7YZ while searching for 172s and liked immediately as it had the 180hp upgrade giving the aircraft more performance, could easily be upgraded with modern avionics, fit our budget, and was over in Palouse, WA which is drier climate and easier for to drive or fly to.

Hoping to get some students started flying in N7YZ soon, as I know everyone will enjoy flying it. Rental rate for the C172 is $176 wet (includes fuel) and $75 if flying with your CFI Brian Calhoon. Hello everyone, my name is Brian Calhoon with Glacier Peak Aviators out of Arlington Municipal Airport (KAWO.)

I’m offering training for private, instrument, commercial, flight instructor ratings, flight reviews, instrument proficiency checks, and recurrency training for rusty pilots.
We are also happy to help people finish up ratings.

For prospective pilots, we offer one-hour discovery flights.
