Congratulations to Frank Fumich ’86, DJO alum and current parent, on reaching the summit of Mount Everest this past week.
Frank carried the DJO flag with him to the top of the world, joining the select group of just 7,563 people who have successfully summited Everest.
We are proud to celebrate this incredible achievement and the determination and spirit it represents. Congratulations, Frank!

Alumni Spotlight: Sydney Smith ’22 was featured in a story from Virginia Military Institute on how she balances all she does at the institution. Her involvement with Keydet Water Polo with hours in the pool to the demands of the Corps, Sydney Smith ’22 says she has built a second family, taken on leadership roles, and pushed herself to grow in every arena.
Her time at VMI has prepared her to manage challenges, support her teammates, and stay focused on her goals — now she’s ready to commission into the U.S. Air Force as a combat systems officer.

More wedding bell news to share during National Marriage Week! 💍💒
Class of 2011 grads Kara Bonini ’11 and Louis “Sonny” Zinzi ’11 were married on November 22 at St. Dominic Church in Washington, D.C.
Although they attended O’Connell at the same time, Kara and Sonny didn’t actually know each other then!. Years later, life brought them together when they reconnected at a DJO gathering six years ago.
Sometimes, the timing really is everything
