Talk about it Tuesday

Did you know mental health is often looked over due to the stigma attached?

Reasons may include lack of awareness and education, or an individual’s culture, or religion. Stigma and discrimination can contribute to worsening symptoms and reduced likelihood of getting treatment.

University of Texas at Arlington offers multiple services for students, such as case management, counseling, a 24/7 crisis line, and an emergency assistance program. Follow the link for more information. Dean of Students - The University of Texas at Arlington (uta.edu) https://www.uta.edu/student-affairs/dos

Mental Health Stats from the National Alliance of Mental Health:

• 5.2% of U.S. adults experienced serious mental illness in 2019 (13.1 million people). This represents 1 in 20 adults.
• 16.5% of U.S. youth aged 6-17 experienced a mental health disorder in 2016 (7.7 million people)

Mandatory Self-Care Monday:

Self-care means taking care of yourself so that you can be mentally and physically healthy. Self-care is part of the answer to how we can all better cope with daily stressors. Individuals often get caught up in their daily lives and forget to provide self-care. It is important to allow time for self-care. Self-care will not look the same for everyone. It can be in any form, as long as it is something you are enjoying.
