UTA researcher earns AHA award for aging research 04/20/2026

Today we celebrate Dr. Kamal Awad, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Research in kinesiology and bioengineering—and a proud UTA graduate. His research looks at how heart and muscle health are linked as we age, known as cardio-sarcopenia.
Dr. Awad earned both his master’s and Ph.D. at UTA and recently received a $231K American Heart Association Career Development Award to support this work and improve early detection of age-related health issues.
