Climb aboard YP 700, a US Naval Academy training vessel where midshipmen take a maritime version of driver's ed

At the United States Naval Academy, every midshipman learns to drive.
Their driver's ed curriculum doesn't involve slow circles in empty parking lots or parallel parking tests. Instead, the future naval leaders learn how to drive, steer, and navigate a ship by going out on the water and doing just that.
After midshipmen learn the basics of navigation, boat handling, man-overboard maneuvers, and standard commands in the classroom, they put their knowledge into practice on training vessels known as yard patrol craft.

His family carries a long tradition of service within his family, beginning with his grandfather’s service as a Marine during World War II. He hopes to continue his family’s legacy of service in the Navy.
His favorite memory at USNA
Plebe Year, when his company earned the title of ‘Iron Company’ during Sea Trials. “Every single company mate had one moment where they shined that day. We won because of everyone,” he said.
Favorite Summer Training:
The opportunity to intern in Little Creek, Virginia where he found the experience beneficial to his future leadership in the Fleet.
Free Time
Plays the harmonica and guitar.

Favorite Navy Memory:
Last year’s N-Star rugby game against Army.
They were able to and clinched the win on Army’s home turf.
On and off the Yard
He likes to stay involved with his faith and the outdoors. He’s a member of the Catholic Midshipman club along with being a Cleveland sports fan, co****le enthusiast, and avid backpacker.
Favorite summer training
NOLS Mountaineering in Alaska. “A three-week expedition in the Alaskan backcountry was an eye-opening experience. It taught me the importance of living in the moment alongside great people and showed me just how invaluable peanut butter really is.”

WEST POINT
Judge rules West Point policy restricting professors’ speech is unconstitutional
U.S. District Judge Cathy Seibel sided with Tim Bakken, a law professor who sued the academy over the restrictions, which limit what its faculty say and write in public. Seibel “permanently enjoined” West Point from enforcing its speech rules. The military academy had sought to bar professors from publishing papers, speaking at conferences or even appearing on podcasts without seeking approval from higher-ups.
West Point can appeal Seibel’s decision. A spokesperson for the school did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday night. Nor did the Pentagon, whose leader, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, has been an outspoken critic of what he calls the infiltration of “woke” values into West Point through non-military faculty like Bakken.
