Promo for peer observation of teaching workshop on February 27! CRTLE UT Arlington 02/25/2026

Colleagues at The University of Texas at Arlington, join us for the next 2/27 Peer Observation of Teaching Workshop!

🚨 Peer Observation Shouldn’t Be a Checkbox. It Should Make You Better. 🚨
On February 27, we’re defining what peer observation of teaching can actually do.

The Peer Observation of Teaching Training with Certificate is a hands‑on, evidence‑based workshop for UTA faculty who want to conduct observations that are:

✅ Meaningful
✅ Constructive
✅ Aligned with university policy
✅ Grounded in real teaching practice (face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online)

Led by Dr. Peggy Semingson and Dr. Beth Fleener, this session walks participants through the entire peer‑observation cycle: • Pre‑observation consultation

• Data‑focused observation strategies
• Post‑observation feedback that actually supports growth

This is not evaluative “gotcha” feedback.

This is about building confidence, skill, and collegial trust—and earning a Peer Observation Certificate in the process.

🔥 What makes this training different?

Participants will practice feedback and coaching using AI‑supported role play with LinkedIn Learning’s AI Role Play tool—a cutting‑edge way to rehearse difficult conversations, refine language, and strengthen judgment before the stakes are high.

Alternative practice options using Microsoft Copilot or peer‑to‑peer role play are built in so everyone can fully participate.

If you care about teaching.

If you serve as a peer observer—or want to. We recommend faculty renew their certificate about every 3-4 years.

This training is for you.

Open Educational Resources (OER) & Accessibility: Supporting Student and Faculty Success at UTA 02/19/2026

🎥 New Video: OER & Accessibility at UT Arlington
How can Open Educational Resources (OER) help make teaching more accessible, flexible, and student‑centered?
In this short video (~13 minutes), Peggy Semingson (CRTLE) and Megan Zara (UTA Libraries) discuss how OER support:

✅ Accessibility and inclusive course design
✅ Day‑one access to course materials
✅ Reduced textbook costs for students
✅ Faculty flexibility to adapt and improve materials over time

The conversation highlights why open licensing matters—especially when addressing accessibility challenges that can’t be fixed in commercial textbooks—and how campus partners like UTA Libraries, CRTLE, and the EIR Accessibility team work together to support faculty.
