MASK by TOBIAS KLEIN 11/30/2016

IF YOU LIKE THIS COME SEE MORE AT AAVS 2017 TEXAS MASK by Tobias Klein is the design of a continuous conversation between two protagonists of the Chinese opera, The Flower Princess (帝女花). Two 3D printed masks are augmented by the means of 3D projection mapping. The video projections were created using reactive and environmentally controlled reagents where each has a particular time span to change colour, from the instant of polychromatic pigments to the change of bioluminescent bacteria or slow growing crystallisations. The second layer of the installation is a lenticular print, where 32 frames are laered in 15 cameras - creating a simulacrum .
