Trout in the Classroom in Staten Island, NY!

The fish were released as part of a program that teaches young New Yorkers about their connection with the water supply system and water quality.

Nebraska Game and Parks Commission's Trout in the Classroom program reached 93 schools across the state this past year, and nearly 5,000 students. Many classrooms wrapped up the program by releasing their fish among the 8 pre-approved sites for release across the state.
From state parks to local city ponds, students got the chance to go fishing, dip for macroinvertebrates and learn about the aquatic ecosystem nearby, reflecting on why these habitats are so special. What a great year!
