Dr. Sauls joins the administrative team for the 2024-2025 school year and will serve alongside Principal Shannon Blackburn and Assistant Principals Jonathan Hawkins and Jason Reed. This new role will let each assistant principal focus on one grade level, helping Principal Blackburn and the administrative team better understand and support the needs of teachers and students at each level.
With a diverse background in teaching and school and district-level administration, Dr. Sauls spent more than a decade in administrative roles before joining AMS. She held leadership positions within the Corinth School District in Mississippi, including her most recent role as the Science Curriculum Specialist. There, she played a pivotal part in supporting schools by implementing science curriculum, developing tailored lesson plans and leading teacher training sessions on a variety of professional development topics. As an assistant principal in Corinth, a position she held for seven years, Dr. Sauls also demonstrated strong supervisory skills, overseeing grade-level instruction, policy development and student discipline, where she focused on implementing supportive measures and corrective actions to ensure studentsโ future success. She also once served as the administrator over the Alcorn County Juvenile Detention Center and the Corinth School District Alternative School.
Dr. Sauls is no stranger to the classroom! She brings 14 years of teaching experience from Tupelo and Clinton, Mississippi schools, where she taught a range of subjects including high school Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Genetics, and Physical Science. Sheโs also a former, long-time cheer coach.
โDr. Sauls will bring the perfect blend of administrative expertise and classroom insight to her new role,โ said Principal Shannon Blackburn. โHer extensive administrative experience leading up to her time at AMS proves she has a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will help facilitate student growth and achievement. Sheโs already engrained in Arlington Middleโs culture, and Iโm confident this familiarity with the school and community will further benefit the students and staff.โ
โI love the children and seeing them grow throughout the year,โ Dr. Sauls said. โItโs been a wonderful experience coming back into a school building where Iโm able to interact with the students because it really is all about them. Returning to administration brings me right back to what I believe is the best of both worlds, and that is helping guide students through their school journey while providing as much support to teachers as I possibly can.โ
๐๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฌ: She and her husband, Johnny, enjoy spending quality time with their three children and three grandchildren. Before moving to the Memphis-Metro, her family lived on a farm in Corinth, where they took advantage of the farm life with pet donkeys, pigs, chickens, cats and dogs. Although theyโve left the farm (and donkeys and pigs) behind, they still find joy with their cats and dogs.
Dr. Sauls will begin her new position when administrators return to school in July.

----------
As a resident of Arlington for 12 years and an Arlington High School teacher for the last 16, my husband Chris, our children Justin and Elizabeth, and I have been closely tied to this great community for over a decade.
Soccer has been a part of my life since I started playing at the age of five. By my teens, I was playing competitive soccer in and around Memphis, and for Collierville High School, where I was on the varsity roster all 4 years. As a junior, I was recruited to play Division 1 soccer at UT Martin after graduation where I played wing midfield during my college career. As an adult, Iโve successfully coached soccer in the community for several years and during that time, have held an almost perfect record with only one loss and one tie to 30+ wins.
Since I am a long-time teacher at AHS and am personally familiar with high school soccer and our current players, one of my top priorities as head coach at the middle school will be to cultivate a seamless and authentic connection to the program here at AHS. I will be working with AHSโ Coach Duncan Nichol to develop players in middle school that will be powerful and impactful assets to the team when they reach the high school level and beyond. Iโm excited for the opportunity to grow this program in a direction that is beneficial for the girls Iโll get to coach, the Arlington community, and the legacy of the ACS soccer family.

iPad collection begins this week: 8th grade - May 9, 7th grade - May 10, & 6th grade - May 14. See below for details.
