AMS Cross Country incredible week….

We knew if we were healthy, the Arlington Middle Boy and Girl Cross Country teams were going to be a force this year. So far they have been just that.

Last night, competing at Memphis Youth Athletics middle school meet at Shelby Farms, both teams took 1st place. Boys 1st out of 24 teams and Girls 1st out of 15 teams.

Incredible performance by our top 5 scorers for both teams with 7th grader Mateo Ortiz finishing 2nd overall getting into a foot race at the end with an opposing 8th grader!! It was an incredible finish with the top 3 runners finishing in front of the pace cart 🤪.

Top 5 Boys
Mateo Ortiz - 2nd
Jackson Bradley - 16th
William Egbert - 17th
Reece Davis - 18th
Cristion Strickland - 25th

Top 5 were all in the top 25!

Our MS Girls dominated their event with our top 5 in the top 15!!!! Our girls took 1st place by a BIG margin.

Top 5 Girls
Liv Benton - 4th
Riley McCool - 6th
Charlotte Lundy - 9th
Hayden Schneider - 11th
Harper Schneider - 12th

And just as exciting as our 1st place placement and the times these athletes put up, both our MS Boy and MS Girl teams had PR (personal record) after PR after PR. All of our athletes are getting better, faster and stronger every week!!!!

I’m so proud of our AMS students for donating a school-record $5,322 for Make-A-Wish this week! Combining our total with the other ACS schools, we’ll be able to grant a wish to Maverick at tonight’s homecoming football game at AHS. Thank you, AMS students and families, for your generosity and community spirit! And a special thanks to our amazing PTA for coordinating this effort. See you at the game!
