Beautiful day to work in the Fitz garden! Rosemary is in full bloom today. Richard and Bill worked on the fossil dig area. Half of the pond has been cut back but still need to work on that massive pickerel in the middle. Oh well, the dead leaves will serve as good shelter for the fish during cold weather! @ Fitzgerald Elementary

It's PLANT SALE Time! Our Wednesday plant sale was rained out this week, so it was postponed until next Wednesday, November 6, from 3:30 to 7:00. But the weather looks great for our SATURDAY Plant Sale this week - NOVEMBER 2. We are extending the hours on Saturday from 9:00 to 3:00 to give more people a chance to get some great plants at great prices!
Fall is the best time to plant all of your perennial plants. Even if they go dormant with the cold winter temps, their roots are still busy growing underground so they will be more established when the hot summer weather hits. We have many wildflowers, irises, daylilies, groundcovers, native grasses and trees. Looking for plants to attract butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators to your garden? We have them!
Fitzgerald Elementary is at 5201 Creek Valley Drive. The garden is located behind the school - just follow the signs!

We got the water line installed to the back of the garden (yay!), but now we have to fill in the trench. Very hard work but we made some great progress today with the help of some teen volunteers.

Happy Labor Day everyone! It was Labor Day here in the garden too as we worked on watering, maintenance and projects. Master Gardeners Richard, Patsy, Janice, and Leeann were there, along with Janice’s recruit, her husband, Bill. She even had him vacuuming the fallen leaves!

We finally got our water line to the back of the garden installed! The district crew unloaded their mini backhoe at 6:30 this morning and worked through the rain to get it done before 11:00. Even when it started pouring, they were determined to finish. Yay! No more dragging 100’ hoses to the back! This will help a lot with our new projects!

With the combined efforts of Stephanie, Richard, Patsy, Caryn, Frankie, and Leeann, 16’ and 8’ trailers and 2 pickup trucks, we successfully picked up, transported and unloaded the rest of our project materials for the summer! However, we highly recommend not waiting until the end to unload the 16’ 2x10s and the 12’ 6x6 posts. Better to do that when your muscles are fresh! @ Fitzgerald Elementary

End of the potato harvest and the beginning of our summer projects with deliveries of sand and decomposed granite. And lots of beautiful dragonflies!
