๐ŸŽโœ๏ธ HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FROM AACI!โœ๏ธ๐ŸŽ

We are so excited to begin a brand-new school year together! ๐Ÿ’œ

There is something so special about welcoming back our old friends and getting to know all of the new friends joining our AACI family. A new year brings new classrooms, new routines, new friendships, new experiences, and so many opportunities to play, learn, explore, and grow together. ๐ŸŒฑ

Our focus as we begin is helping every child feel safe, welcomed, connected, and excited to belong. The learning will follow! โค๏ธ

Hereโ€™s to a wonderful 2026โ€“2027 school year filled with friendship, laughter, messy play, big discoveries, and lots of growing!** ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŒป

๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ… Our September Harvest of the Month is right around the cornerโ€ฆ and itโ€™s PEPPERS! ๐Ÿซ‘๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

Today our little gardeners headed out to the garden to harvest some of the beautiful tomatoes and peppers they helped grow! Thereโ€™s something pretty special about watching the children pick fresh food right from our own garden.

Weโ€™re getting everything ready to launch our Take-Home Harvest of the Month Cooking Kits, giving children and families a chance to take what weโ€™re learning through our Farm to School program right into their own kitchens! ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿก

From planting and caring for our garden, to harvesting, tasting, and eventually cooking together. This is what Farm to School is all about!

Stay tunedโ€ฆ September is going to be pepper-perfect! ๐Ÿซ‘

Vermont Early Learning Standards (VELS)
What Our Children Are Learning:

Science: Learning where our food comes from, what plants need to grow, and how they change over time.

Early Math: Comparing and noticing different colors, shapes, sizes, and amounts as we harvest.

Language & Literacy: Building new vocabulary through conversations about planting, gardening, harvesting, vegetables, and cooking.

Physical Development: Strengthening fine and gross motor skills through picking, carrying, gathering, and handling vegetables.

Approaches to Learning: Building curiosity, problem-solving skills, and confidence through hands-on experiences.

Social & Emotional Development: Practicing teamwork, cooperation, responsibility, and taking pride in caring for our garden together.

Most importantly, children are making the connection between growing food, harvesting it, preparing it, and eating it. Learning firsthand where their food comes from!

๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿฅ• HELP US GROW OUR FARM TO SCHOOL PROGRAM! ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“

Farm to School has become such an exciting and meaningful part of learning at Arlington Area Childcare! Our children are getting the opportunity to experience food in a completely different wayโ€”planting it, growing it, harvesting it, preparing it, tasting it, and learning where it comes from. ๐Ÿ’š

As we continue to GROW our Farm to School program, weโ€™ve created a Farm to School Wish List and would be incredibly grateful for our communityโ€™s support!

๐ŸŒป Items from our wish list will help us:

* Expand hands-on gardening experiences
* Cook and prepare foods with the children
* Explore new fruits and vegetables
* Care for our chickens ๐Ÿ“
* Bring more Farm to School learning directly into our classrooms
* Continue connecting our children with local food, agriculture, and our Vermont community
Every item purchasedโ€”big or smallโ€”goes directly toward creating experiences for our children. ๐ŸŒฑ

๐ŸŽโœ๏ธ HELP US KICK OFF A GREAT NEW SCHOOL YEAR!โœ๏ธ๐ŸŽ

Our AACI teachers have been busy getting their classrooms ready for another year of learning, playing, exploring, creating, and growing! Each teacher has put together a classroom wish list with items that would make their space even more engaging and special for the children in their care. ๐Ÿ’š

We would LOVE for our families, friends, and community members to take a peek at our Teacher Classroom Wish Lists! Even one small item can make a big difference. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿงฉ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–๏ธ

When you purchase something from a teacherโ€™s list, you aren't simply buying a classroom supplyโ€”youโ€™re helping provide new learning experiences, materials for little hands to explore, books to fall in love with, and resources our teachers can use every single day.

๐ŸŒฑ Pick a classroom.
๐Ÿ’š Check out their wish list.
๐ŸŽ Choose an itemโ€”big or small.
โœจ Help us surprise our teachers and kiddos for the new school year!

Our teachers pour so much of themselves into creating safe, welcoming, exciting classrooms for our children. This is a wonderful way to show them that their community is behind them, too.

Jamming It Up with Cole!๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ“

Our Pre-K friends had a berry-exciting Farm to School experience todayโ€”making homemade strawberry chia seed jam with Cole!๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ

From preparing and mashing the strawberries to measuring, mixing, and watching the chia seeds transform our ingredients into jam, our little chefs were learning every step of the way. Experiences like this help children understand where food comes from, how ingredients change, and how healthy foods can be created right in our classroom.

๐ŸŒฑ VELS Learning in Action:
๐Ÿ“ Science: Observing changes in texture, consistency, and ingredients as we made our jam.
๐Ÿ”ข Mathematics: Measuring, counting, comparing amounts, and following a sequence.
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Language & Literacy: Learning new vocabulary, discussing each step, and following directions.
๐Ÿคฒ Physical Development: Strengthening fine-motor skills through pouring, mashing, stirring, and scooping.
โค๏ธ Social & Emotional Development: Practicing patience, cooperation, turn-taking, and pride in creating something together.
๐ŸŒŽ Approaches to Learning:Exploring food through hands-on discovery, curiosity, and problem-solving.

This is what Farm to School looks like at Arlington Area Childcareโ€”connecting the classroom, cafeteria, and community while giving children meaningful, hands-on experiences with real food. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ“

And the best part? Tasting what we made!*๐Ÿ˜‹
