Green Acres Academy

This week some of our amazing students took a field trip to the Warm Beach Community Center to learn survival skills in their outdoor school! They learned how to milk a ‘cow’, build a fire, shoe a horse and so much more! What an amazing field trip!

At Green Acres Academy we challenge our students to notice the amazing world around them. This week we are learning about the Fibonacci sequence and how is all around us in nature!

On Friday our 1st and 2nd graders took an impromptu field trip to Kayak Point when one of our students suggested we clean up a local beach to support our local wildlife! We collected almost two full garbage sack full of waste! We then collected sand samples to check for the presence of microplastics!

Green Acres Academy is located in the Lakewood neighborhood of Arlington, WA on a beautiful 8 acre property! We have a greenhouse and outdoor garden that we utilize for our agricultural education! We also have chickens, goats, and ducks that the children just love observing!

Green Acres‘ student love creating imaginative art projects! They spend time every week learning new mediums and art styles while emphasizing their creativity and having fun! Our students had a wonderful 100th day of school! We had a fantastic time dressing up and spending the day doing 100 day activities! We love when our kids get to be kids! These days are so magical!

Our 1st and 2nd graders are learning all about the stucture of many different fruits and vegetables to expand on their understanding of agriculture! In these pictures they are dissecting tomatoes and harvesting seeds. Then they were pulling apart a pineapple so they can grow their own! The hands on experiences we offer at Green Acres is so beneficial to our students education!

Our student love learning about agriculture through our green house and garden! They get to be very hands on and grow their own vegetables and fruits for spring !

Ms. Frizzle of the famed Magic School Bus series always said “Take chances, make mistakes and get messy!“ At Green Acres Academy we have the same philosophy! She also believes (as we do) that the best way to know is to do and making mistakes is the best way to learn! We offer hands on messy ways for our students to learn about the world around them. We have been studying birds from what makes an egg an egg to what do birds eat and finally dissecting owl pellets! The circle of life!

At Green Acres Academy we have over 8 acres of beautiful farm land! We use our expansion property not only to support our agricultural curriculum in the spring and summer but, on nice days we use that space for some fun (and slightly competitive) P.E.!
