At Lesley Ellis, creativity and learning go hand in hand, every day, in every classroom.

Take this recent 5th grade lesson: Cookies and Cuneiform! ๐Ÿช๐Ÿ“œ

Students started by measuring and mixing ingredients for sugar cookies (fraction practice never tasted so sweet!). While the dough chilled, they learned about ancient Mesopotamian writing from a guest speaker.

Then it all came together, literally(!), as they pressed their own cuneiform symbols and messages into the cookie dough before baking. History you can eat!

Learning has never been this delicious.

๐ŸŽถโ„๏ธ Do you wanna build a snowman? Wellโ€ฆ maybe just sing about it! โ„๏ธ๐ŸŽถ

While we were in middle school capturing photos and video of students hard at work, two of them decided to give us a very special (and very brief ๐Ÿ˜„) rendition of Frozen. It was impromptu, delightful, and a reminder that we take our academics seriously, but not too seriously. Thereโ€™s always room for laughter, creativity, and a little musical magic in our classrooms.

Just another โ€œordinaryโ€ day at Lesley Ellisโ€ฆ which somehow always feels a little bit magical.

From middle schoolers in the gym with Nick bringing the energy, to our tiniest explorers discovering new wonders in the outdoor classroom. From seventh graders making music with Faith, to focused faces studying in the library. From joyful hallway "hellos!" to TKers practicing mindfulness like pros, this is what a connected, caring, creative community looks like. ๐Ÿ’›
