In sports, coaches are often seen as strategists, motivators, and leaders. They design plays, organize practices, and guide athletes toward victory. But beyond the scoreboard, coaching plays a deeper role—shaping not only how players perform, but how they think, feel, and handle pressure. As a multi-sport athlete who has played both soccer and volleyball for most of my life, I’ve experienced a wide range of coaching styles. Those experiences have shown me just how powerful a coach’s influence can be on both performance and mental health.
Growing up playing soccer, I had coaches who approached the game in very different ways. Some focused on encouragement and development, while others emphasized discipline and winning above all else. When I entered high school, I made the decision to stop playing soccer and fully commit to volleyball. That shift not only changed the sport I played, but also exposed me to a new level of intensity and a different coaching environment. Across both

For Clay Golday, the NFL was always something you watched on Sundays.
Now, it’s something he’s living, watching his son Jake turn a lifelong dream into reality after being drafted into the league.
“We’re super, super proud. His whole family, we can’t say enough about him,” Clay said.
Jake Golday’s journey started in Arlington, and it didn’t happen overnight. It took the right opportunities, a move to a bigger stage at the University of Cincinnati, and proving himself every step of the way. Even now, as his son reaches the NFL, Clay is still trying to take it all in.

“It’s surreal. It’s almost like it’s still a dream,” Clay said. “When I see him run down and make his first tackle, then it’ll finally be real.”
Jake began his college career at Central Arkansas in 2023 before transferring to Cincinnati—a move that helped put him on the national radar and ultimately led to his high draft selection.

Since February 2026, tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified following U.S. airstrikes targeting Iranian leadership and infrastructure. The strikes were aimed at weakening Iran’s theocratic government and reportedly killed several high-ranking officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who had led the country since 1989.
In response, Iran launched missile attacks toward Israel, further escalating regional instability. Iranian leaders have long expressed hostility toward Israel, with Khamenei previously referring to the nation as “a deadly cancerous tumor.”
The conflict has since expanded beyond Iran and Israel, spreading into neighboring Lebanon. Human rights groups, including U.S.-based activists monitoring Iran, report that more than 1,000 civilians have been killed as violence intensifies.
Iran has accused the U.S. military of striking an all-girls school, an attack it claims killed 168 people, including 110 children. U.S. officials denied https://ahstigerlife.com/20344/news/u-s-iran-conflict-escalates-with-regional-tensions-and-civilian-casualties/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

The 98th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, took place Sunday, March 15, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, the ceremony honored some of the year’s biggest films and performances.
One of the biggest surprises of the night involved “Marty Supreme.” Many expected Timothée Chalamet to win for his performance in the film, and some thought the movie could take home multiple awards. Even though it earned several nominations, “Marty Supreme” did not win any Oscars. That result surprised many viewers, especially since it was A24’s highest-grossing film.
“Sinners” was one of the night’s standout films. Michael B. Jordan was considered a strong contender for best actor for his performance, and the film won four Oscars overall. Those awards included best cinematography, best original screenplay and best original score by Ludwig Göransson. Cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw also made history as the first woman to win an Oscar in https://ahstigerlife.com/20341/uncategorized/oscars-night-delivers-surprises-and-standout-wins/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

The now second-year, school-affiliated, girls' lacrosse team is now halfway through their season. They have been improving with the addition of assistant coach Caleb Hilliard and many sophomores who joined this year to build more depth to this team.

This season, they have recorded two wins and nine losses. That is a better record than last year, as the girls won one game. Also, this season, Isabella “Issa” Cerezo broke a program record for most saves in a half with fifteen against St. Georges. With another year before her senior season, she gives the Tigers a strong foundation in goal to build their defense around, and she is only going to get better with time.

“Our whole game plan starts with our setup at the back, and our defense has really become our strong suit. We can go toe to toe with some of the best teams in the county. We started running a new defensive strategy, and the girls have picked it up well. The Arlington Tigers are rolling after a slow start in district play. Since a three-game skid, Arlington has won six of its last eight games. The Tigers’ win over No. 7-ranked Collierville was their biggest victory since beating No. 4 Houston on April 9 of last year.
During that eight-game stretch, Arlington’s pitching staff has allowed just 21 runs, with the exception of a nine-run outing by DeSoto Central. The starting pitchers have given the Tigers strong innings, helping take pressure off both the offense and the bullpen.
Harrison Pollina turned in one of the team’s best starts of the season, throwing six innings and striking out 15 batters while allowing just one hit and one run. Cade Reisinger has also built momentum on the mound. His top performance came against Collierville, when he pitched seven innings, allowed one earned run and struck out five.
“We had good starting pitching,” coach Jonathan Moody said. “Both Cade and Harrison filled up the strike zone, https://ahstigerlife.com/20328/sports/arlington-baseball-finds-its-groove-after-slow-district-start/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

If you asked Katelyn Parker about her cheer journey, she probably would not give a perfectly polished answer. She would laugh, think for a second and say something like, “Honestly, it was super up and down.”
That is exactly what makes her story feel real.
Parker’s path to cheering in college, and eventually committing to the University of Memphis, was not straight or picture-perfect. It was filled with mixed emotions, second thoughts, changing plans and learning to trust her instincts along the way.
For a long time, cheering in college was not even part of her plan.
“I’ve not always wanted to cheer in college,” Parker said. “Until about senior year, I was on edge with it. I was like, ‘It’s an option, I guess,’ but I was also kind of ready for the journey to end.”
After years in the sport, that feeling is not uncommon. Long practices, mental pressure, injuries and the overall demands of cheer can add up. At some point, many athletes start to wonder whether https://ahstigerlife.com/20323/news/katelyn-parker-follows-her-heart-commits-to-memphis-cheer/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost
