Hispanic Heritage festival | Tyrol Hill Park - 2026
-This year's Tyrol Hill Park Hispanic Festival, held in the Arlington Mill neighborhood, was organized by community activist Janeth Valenzuela and others in the community. It featured many organizations with resources for the citizens, plus dance performances, music, free food, and guest speakers including Commonwealth Attorney Parisa Dehghani-Tafti, Sheriff Jose Quiroz, Police Chief Andy Penn, School Board members Zuraya Tapia-Hadley and Bethany Zecher Sutton, and visits from other elected officials from the Arlington County Board.
Fun- the dancers with bottles balanced on their heads are from Paraguay.

9/11/2001 - Pentagon, 25 years later - tragedy remembered and honored
--These pictures were made near the Pentagon in the immediate aftermath of the tragic attack there on September 11, 2001. The Pentagon is at the eastern terminus of Columbia Pike.
Never forget.
May the memories of the lives lost ever be for a blessing.

Arlington County Fair 2026
--The Arlington County Fair was held for the 50th year, once again at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center. It was well-attended, and featured numerous rides, crafts, food vendors, civic and business displays, competitions, and much fun.
--Thanks to chair Matt Cochrane, previous chair Matt Richard, and to the County staff and volunteers who worked to make the fair a success.

"Jackson Nine” student band from the Aspire Afterschool Program
--A rock band, the "Jackson Nine” was formed by students in the Aspire! Afterschool Summer Program, They performed for parents and supporters in the courtyard of the Arlington Mill Community Center. Adult bands -The Stacks, Angel Roads, and APM - played alongside the Aspire band, and there were local vendors, food trucks, and art made by students available. It was a happy occasion for all attendees and performers..
--“Aspire students have a vested interest in making sure we can continue providing our daily holistic academic afterschool and full-day summer program. They want Aspire to grow so their friends can also have access to a program that means so much to them, bridges the learning gap, gives them a safe place, and where they plant the seeds where their future dreams grow. They came together to find ways to support Aspire and their community. This music festival is a testament to their leadership, generosity, and the critical role Aspire plays in their lives,” said Paula Fynboh, Aspire’s CEO.
--Aspire Afterschool Learning (formerly the Greenbrier Learning Center) is a non-profit organization based along Columbia Pike. According to their mission statement, Aspire! "provides robust, holistic, and high-quality afterschool and summer academic enrichment to historically underserved students in third to eight grades."

Stories of Music, A Community Art Exhibit was hosted by Studio PAUSE at Arlington Presbyterian Church's home at Gilliam Place on the Pike as part of their collaborative residency with the church.
-Curated by Studio Pause director Sushmita Mazumdar with Mary Louise Marino, local artists' work in a variety of media was on display. Individual artists spoke about their creative process and there were also performances on violin, fiddle and on the Mongolian horse head fiddle by Uyanga Gankhuyag.

"Join us for a special 15 Minute History with photographer Lloyd Wolf whose work documenting immigrant communities along Columbia Pike is featured in the "We, The People," traveling exhibition from the Virginia Museum of History & Culture.

Wolf will discuss his involvement with the exhibit and share insights from the Columbia Pike Documentary Project, which captures the stories, cultures, and everyday lives of Arlington residents from around the world. His photographs offer a powerful look at immigration, identity, and the changing face of Arlington."
